Leg hurt!!!!! :( Ok so tonight Ella was fine and playing with two other dogs that she is always around. All of the sudden, she started limping. She never yelped, there is no sticker or goathead in her paw, she just wont put pressure on it. I can bend it and she doesnt cry or anything, but you can tell it doesnt feel good. She just wants to lay down and keep it straight out. Thats how she seems most comfortable. I will take her to the vet if it isnt better in the morning... what could it be tho????????? she is barely 6 months old.....:( |
anybody???????????????? I am worried about her :( |
She probably just strained it playing. Keep her quiet for the rest of the night and see what she does tomorrow. If she's still limping then, I would get her to the vet. |
thanks, that is what I was hoping.................. |
Let me know how she is in the morning. |
rest her 24-48 hrs and keep confined and if lifting leg in 48 hrs take her for an xray |
I hope little Ella is okay and it is not serious! Please keep us posted! |
As long as she is resting comfortably, I would not worry. Just take her to your vet in the morning if she is still limping. Chances are, she will be fine in the morning! |
Well I took her on her potty break this morning and she used her leg! Still doesnt seem a hundred percent quite yet tho. My bf is off work tho today so he will just have to keep her quiet and I bet she will be fine!!! thanks everyone I am glad I didnt go spend a fortune on an emergency vet last night like I felt like doing.... |

This sounds like LP to me. Not an emergency, but will need to be seen by a vet to see how bad it is. |
Mine too!! My little guy is also limping. He was last night and a littler this morning as well. I did notice when my dad was over yesterday that he picked up |
This happened to Buddy about three months ago. I took him to the vet the following morning and he had a soft tissue injury. They gave him megacam in a shot and pill form and the next day he was fine. Took the meds for 7days and went back for a follow up and all was ok. I am pretty sure he jumped or fell off the back of the couch looking out the slider for something to bark at! Hpe you baby is much better today. |
My little guy is also limping. He was last night and a littler this morning as well. I did notice when my dad was over yesterday that he picked up Snickers and Snick let out a yelp. I think his leg got a little twisted. I'm going to wait another day to take him to the vet. Thanks Archie....I think Snick also has a small tear or something. |

If it doesnt get completely better soon, i would go and have the vet check it out. Little dogs are very good at coping on 3 legs and just putting a bit of pressure on the injured one. Molly did this and after a mis-diagnosis by a junior vet,2 weeks later i asked to see the senior one and he straight way said she had a partially torn cruciate ligament! fortunately i had ignored the junior vets advice to let Molly do as much as she wanted, and had been making her take it easy. 8 weeks later and her knee is on the mend. we are taking short walks, but no off-lead exercise for another 2 months. It will be 6 months till she can run around as she pleases, and she will almost certainly now get arthritis in that knee. :( dont let it go on for too long before you get it checked....good luck and i hope it turns out to be nothing serious..xx |

I also have had yorkies with LP who did limp off and on, but never required surgery. The best thing we can do is to keep them off of furniture...unless they are trained to use steps to go up and down. |
6 months old tho? isn't that kind of young to have luxating patella? I thought that too but due to her age I figured it wasnt possible. By the way, she is completely better now. There are no signs of favoring or tenderness. She has never jumped off of things higher than a couch, and that isnt very high. I feel like it was just a sore muscle or something. She gets spayed in a week (hopefully) so I will ask about it then. Thanks everyone for the replies :) |
Puppies can have LP before they are 6 weeks old. |
