this is a terrible story of how someone has let their animal do something horrible and were not willing to take any responsibility as the owner and trainer of their dog. I would persue justice in some way whether writing up a bill as FlDebra suggested and seeing if they will pay restitution and if they won't do so take them to court and sue them to pieces. this is a horrible thing and they knowingly allowed their animal to commit murder on your property the owners should be responsible for tresspassing charges of their dog coming onto your property with them standing there watching it happen i cannot imagine walking into my home to find a vicisous dog in there with my own precisou baby dead like that...SUE AWAY and i sure hope you get justice somehow the police there are stupid to think for one minute that that stupid dog wouldn't have hurt you as well had you given it time or been coming home and opened the door it could have kiled you as well and they did nothing!!??? this is terrible...

i really hope you can get money and some justice served to those neighbors. shame on them!!

Thank you for this. I will be looking these over. Do you have any idea about wrongful death of animal laws? I looked it up and in some states (I saw of a case in Washington) where you can have a wrongfull death suit for your animal. Does Texas have these same laws?

I am so sorry!! I seriously have tears running down my face. I would contact a lawyer that specialized in animal cases or something. You can't just sit there and do nothing..even though they put there dog down, whats to say their other dog wont do the same. I am outraged that this even happened. I am so sorry. I wish you luck and keep us posted!!

It was awful that we called the police and they would not even come to our house. Unfortunately, some people DO see animals as property and think nothing of it when one is brutually murdered in her own home which is supposed to be her safe haven. i was shocked that even the animal control officer was incredibly rude. He told me to calm down and rolled his eyes at me. He wanted to do nothing about it. We went up to Animal Control offices and they won't even give us the report that was filed!!!

This is outrageous, seriously makes me want to move to a state with better animal laws.

OMG that's Horrible ! Just horrible. I can't believe your neighbors - the cops m...hell all of them. That has to be the worst experience for your family and my heart goes out to you. Take time to grieve then go after them with Bullets ! The courts have to stand up for the hurt - they just have to. What that dog did affected your whole family and not to mention murdered a poor innocent dog right in her own home where she felt safe,

Freedom of Information Act, that information is yours, they cannot withhold it. Demand it or have your lawyer demand it. And once again, if they will not file charges, check and see if there are charges that you as a citizen can sign and file. If so, they have to honor those charges, like it or not. Believe it or not, citizen's arrest is not just 'cartoon jargon'.

This is sweet Minnie. Let us all hope she is free and happy now. No longer in pain. I love you Minnie, I cannot stop crying.

poor, sweet Minnie. I have been on YT a long time, and this is one of the most traumatic experiences I think anyone has had on this forum. I will never forget it. I am just so sorry this happened.

I do think you should sue for everything you can get. And homeowners policies do cover these things. Your landlord might end up evicting these renters after his policy has to pay out on a claim....

I think it is important to find the right attorney. Perhaps you should ask your vet. I would guess that attorneys who do animal-related cases are few and far between.

This is horrible beyond belief! I am so sorry for you for your loss, and for the horrid images and destruction you witnessed.
