Update on Itchy Baby We went to the vet today and he still seems to think it is allergies...He gave her antibiotics because she is starting to get little bumps and scratching them open...Poor little girl!!! He also suggested giving her a half a tablet of Zyrtec daily to prevent the allergies. We will try this for 10 days and see how it goes. I'm still concerned about what she is allergic to so we can eliminate it, vet recommended going to a doggie dermotologist to have a full panel allergy test done??? Has anyone done this??? |
I am having the same problem with Lexi she has an appointment tomorrow with the vet. She itches too....and has all little scapes all over under her chin, neck, ears and now I have noticed a couple on her shoulder:confused: I have no idea what is going on with her. I thought maybe she itched so bad she scratched herself causing scapes:confused: She has no fleas or ticks so I am anxious to see what he says. Hope everything works out ok with your little furbaby...it is sad watching them go through this Hugs Cheryl & Lexi:aimeeyork |

Allergies Just want to let you know your in for a long hall if you treat his allergies. My dgt. spent a fortune between the vets and going to the doggie dermatologist all the time,he was on prednasone, thats the only thing that helped him and my dgt. hated giving it to him because eventually it destroys the liver. Well he dies last Nov. at the age of 9.She was so close to him and loved him so muchshe has not gotten another dog. She spent so much money on him,she only could take care of him, no money for anything else, but she neer regretted it,she is still missing him and I am too. He was a beautiful Scottie. The vet said you either give him the meds and have a short lived happy dogor have him scratching constantly and have a miserable dog.She didn't want him unhappy. |

I don't know if your vet told you to do this. But, my vet had me do this to one of my girls who developed a staph infection. Bathe your girl every 3 days in a very cool bath, as cool as she can stand it. Blow dry with cool air. This helps control the itching as well as kill the staph. |

and yes the staph is different in dogs than humans BUT my vet said they are seeing mrsa staph in dogs now and probably because they over prescribe antibiotics so the dogs become immune to them :( |
