Praying for you guys... |
So scary. I can not imagine how hard this must be and how helpless you must feel. My heart goes out to you. Saying preyers for you and Lilly. Hugs... |
Hugs and praying for both Lilly and you! |
Prayers for Lilly I am so sorry that you and Lilly must endure this terrible time. I pray that she has the strength to overcome whatever is tormenting her. But know that in her anguish, she knows that you are there beside her with your hands around her heart, and that she is comforted beyond measure by your caring. God bless you both. |
What you described her doing is exactly what my Gizmo did after eating a meal high in protien. Gizmo had a liver shunt. What kind of food have you been feeding her? Has she been a good eater, or has she been picky? I would get her to a vet with experience dealing with liver shunts ASAP. Both you and your baby are in my prayers. I understand how scary this is for you. |
Praying for you and Lily both. I agree with other posters, get her to MSU as soon as you can. We've had our Toby there for cardiac issues and they are fantastic with little ones. |
Oh no, not sweet Lilly.... She is so sweet and I know she is so very loved by you. My prayers are with you. Try to stay positive and just love on her. Thinking of you..... :hands: |
I'm just wondering if Becky will leave Lily Kisses' side to come onto YT. I wish she would see the posts about LS. |
Adding my prayers for Lily. My girls are older, but they both had Tamiflu back in December when they had the doggie flu and both did just fine with it..... |
I am SO sorry to hear about your sick pup. I pray she will survive. |
I lost my baby at 12 weeks to L/S. It was very similar to what you are explaining. Pinky was fine at bedtime & the next morning she was nearly gone. Had to find a vet on Sunday morning as mine was out of town. Pinky continued to have seizures until the end. Praying for a miracle for you. Yannie |
PLEASE get this baby to MSU or Oakland or contact Ellie May's Vet, her Vet is excellent with Liver Shunt knowledge. What you describe is truly the classic Liver Shunt symptoms and she really, really needs to be on the proper meds to rid those toxins that are building up in her tiny little system. Those toxins need to be out via Lactulose and poop. These toxins that her liver can not filter are causing the seizures and the neuro behavior..... And whatever you do, please do not feed her meat or organ meat. Liver shunt babies do best on Veggie or Dairy Protein (minimal amounts though)... Please keep us posted, we are all praying :( |

I am so sorry that your going through all of this, it is so scary and heartbreaking to see your baby so sick. Please know that my prayers are with you and little Lilly Kisses tonight. |
I am sending up prayers for your baby and for you. |
I'm so sorry Lily is so sick. I will keep her and you in my prayers. Please keep us posted. |
thank you all for your prayers. i have lily laying next to me with a little iv drip going. she has not had another seizure since this am. however she is real listless and acting so strange i have to help her down to pee pad she jerks her head up and whines and i know she needs to go. she is peeing like crazy with the iv fluids. she has only threw up once today and no poopies at all yet. i just cant believe this happening. can a miracle happen and it now be liver shunt or distemper. can they act like this with a cold or something?vet said could be respirtory infection yet he told me before her lungs sounded good and he did x rays of everything. not that it matters at the moment but you know this vet bill today was a whopper. funny how when they are sick we just whip out the dough and worry later about the fiances. i love her too much to put a limit on her. i just was hurt when vet said iv in hosp was high expense for such a low survial chance. i said then ill buy the supplies im a nurse and ill do it myself. he dut the iv in and sold me tubing and fluids. he said go for it she ll probably respond better at home anyhow. well ill check in again in the am .prayers she will still be my baby and not my angel by then. |
All the best Becky, I am hoping this has a happy ending, I can only imagine how scared you must be. I pray Lily pulls though. |
I know you are going through a terrible time, but what you are describing sounds like little Lily may have a liver shunt. As the owner of a liver shunt puppy, I must emphasize how important it is right now to take her to a vet who is experienced with this very common disorder in Yorkies. She needs lactulose and a prescription diet to help her body rid itself of the toxins that are developing in her bloodstream and traveling to her brain. That is probably why she is experiencing these symptoms. I don't know much about distemper, but I think the likelihood of liver shunt is a lot greater. Getting her to the right vet may be a lifesaving decision. Good luck and I hope she feels better very quickly. |
How awful! My heart goes out to you and little Lilly! |

That really doesn't sound like distemper. Distemper has lots of mucous/congestion, a cough, etc. It sure sounds like a liver shunt to me. |
Becky.....did Lily Kisses make it through the night? I have said many prayers for Lily Kisses and you. |
My Heart is With You, Both I am sorry to hear that Lily is sick. Please know that you are not alone as you wait for her to turn the corner, she will. We will be here to support you through this difficult time. Hugs to you as well as Lily. Don't give up, she knows how much you love her and she'll be working hard to get well. |
I hope everything is ok. Prayers are with you. :( |
I\'m sending prayers for Lily. Please, do as others have suggested and get her in to MSU - why keep waiting and possibly wasting time she doesn\'t have? |
Praying for you both. |
I was just checking for updates. I hope she\'s ok... |
Just checking in on Lily. |
Becky - PLEASE please please get this baby checked for LIVER SHUNT asap! The folks who\'ve posted their concerns about this being liver shunt are so correct in being concerned about this - and they know so much about this issue and the symptoms. If you re-read TLC and Ellie May\'s posts, those posts even give some thoughts on diet etc. if this is liver shunt. We\'ve seen these symptoms here at YT over and over, and I so hope you\'ll get this test - it\'s really necessary. If you can see Ellie May\'s vet, I know from what she has told me that her vet is just incredible. |
