Buddy needs your prayer's He somehow injured his right leg while I was at work yesterday. I can only imagine how he did it buy jumping off the couch like a lunitic spotting a squirel or another dog and landed the wrong way. I was sure it was only a sprain after checking over his leg and foot when I got home last night after work. He didn't cry or flintch at all while I was bending it and feeling it. Nothing! It bends at the knee and bends at the ankle. His pad is fine and so are his knuckles. His shoulder, I thought was maybe jammped but that also seems to be fine. I have a 9:00am appt at the vet anyhow this am, he needed his Lepto and I am off so that worked out fine. He will not put it down. Last night I had to carry him around he would not walk. This morning he's doing a good job walking on three legs but looks so sad. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayer's today. I hope no surgery is involved. I'll die. Thanks, |
Poor baby! Tell him that yorkies are not built to fly! Hope everything is OK! |
Carol, I will definately keep little Buddy in my thoughts and prayers - and I'll be watching for an update. |

We're home We're home from the vet visit and Buddy seems to have a soft tissue injury. The vet first suspected Lymes, due to the area where we live, lameness is usually the first sign. Even tho he received the Lyme shot a month ago and tested negative at that time she drew blood to test again. No Lymes so she suspects a soft tissue injury. He received an injection of Metacam to releive any pain he's feeling with liquid Metacam for a week to help ease muscle and ligament pain. If it were fractured he would be screaming in pain she said. If this is not better by our next week visit x-ray's will be done at that time. Soft tissues injuries do not show up on x-rays. They would have to sedate him for the x-rays, no way will he cooperate, I know, so I am praying this heals. Just to mention about Lymes. There is a new preventive out called Vectra 3D which I purchased at her request instead of using Frontline, since this product kills all ticks. She also told me not to stretch the weeks from 4-6 because it's important to use once a month. She understood my worry about these products, she has them also, but Lymes can go right to the kidneys also and your pet does not have a chance for survival if that happens. Scary. We do live in a highly populated area. Deer are all over. I am looking a three at I type this right outside my window. Well anyhow Buddy needs rest, no jumping, yea like that's gonna happen. She said he was so brave, as she looked down at his MUZZLED face.:p Thanks for keeping him in your prayer's. I am sure he will be well in a couple of days. In the meantime I am babying him and enjoying every minute of it. Carrying him to potty is hard. He's so heavy. Have a great day, Hugs, |
Awww...poor Buddy. I sure hope everything works out at the Vet today. I'll be checking back to see how he made out. Praying for ya, Buddy! |

Glad to hear Buddy is gonna be ok. |
That's good nothing is broken. |
Oh no! poor Buddy! Even a soft tissue injury can hurt like the dickens. We will continue to keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. :bighug::nursing::getwell: No jumping, Buddy! |
Poor Buddy.....:( so glad it wasn't anything more serious :) |
Oh my goodness, BUDDY - what did you do    I am so glad he is ok ~ wow, one minute they are good and the next.... Thanks for the tid bit about Lyme, etc... We are like you, tons of deer. Yesterday TJ was ready to jump thru the front window at the deer eating grass on my front lawn  Roxy's tick bit has finally healed. We will be testing her for Lyme in a couple of weeks, but the Vet thinks she is ok. I hate using Frontline, but after this last episode with her, I have no choice. I am going to look into the Vectra 3D ~ thanks ;) |
Thanks to all of you for being concerned. I am pretty sure the meds will work, if only I can keep him still. Nicole, The lable states it kills ticks even before they attach, which frontline does not. Frontline also does not kill several kinds of ticks. I called them last year or so about one I found buried in Buddy's head. They wanted to know what kind it was? Like I would no. They said Frontline does not kill all ticks this new product does. Glad to see the bite healed on your furbaby. I remember reading your thread about it. Finger's crossed no Lymes was picked up. |
The Vectra 3D has Permethrin in it, so I am gonna pass :( |

Well after looking Permethrin up, I'm gonna pass too! What the heck! It's know to poison dog's! Are they nut's to make such product's. I'll return it next week for a refund and continue using Frontline. Thanks Nicole. If you can't trust your vet who the heck can you trust:( Thank heaven's I didn't use it yet. OMG |

But my Vet WON'T carry it bc of the Permethrin ~ he recommends the Frontline Plus ;) |

Poor Buddy! I'm sure he loves the extra attention Mommy is giving him though! ;) |
I didn't know Lyme disease could make them limp. Always learning something new on Yorkietalk. We have taught Joey to use steps since he was a puppy, they are still times he see something outside, and he leaps off the couch. I scold he, and place him back on the couch and make he use his steps. He is so furious with me before he reaches the door, where he has to ding a little bell before I open the door, and he can scare whatever it is away. It's so funny seeing him outraged. :D Hope Buddy recovers quickly. |
We hope Buddy is okay, prayers, & good thoughts coming your way! |
Update I went shopping with my daughter for a couple of hours and when I opened the door, when I got home, Buddy was walking on his leg:p BLess that shot. He'll be fine now for sure. What a scare he gave me. Totally different dog from last night until now. Yipeeeeee. What a relief. It must have really hurt him and he never let on it hurt except to carry it up all the time. I wish they could all heal this fast. We've been blessed this time around. Thanks for your good thoughts and prayer's. The scare if offically over. Hugs, |
Whew!! Thank goodness! I'm so glad he's using his little leg again!! :) |
That's great!!! |
