| any one who can help I took Jessie to the vet today for her 3rd injection, 5in1 and Rabies , I mentioned that since sunday she seems to be pee ing a lot, every 5min or sometimes when I am holding her she pees. the vet took a urine sample and it is clear not proteein in urine, the gave a longlasting biotics injection and said she thinks jessie cannot control her bladder, now after 3days she wants to draw blood and check jessie's kikneys, I am so scared, what if something is wrong with her kidneys, has anyone experienced this with your yorkies. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome sorry to hear about Jessie. They may need to do a culture on the ursine to look further for a UTI. The blood work should give a quick assessment of her kidney function. Hopefully it's something they can take care of easily. Keep us posted and praying for good news.

| Just for future reference, NEVER give shots along w/rabies...rabies should be given separately, 2 weeks after reg shots is recommended. If a dog has an adverse reaction to vaccines, if you give everything together, it's hard to pin point which caused it. For a small dog, doing the combo of vaccines plus rabies is too much. IDThink her urinating often has anything to do w/the vaccines....when you say clear, does that mean there was no bacteria in the urine, so no UTI, then why the antibiotic injection? A blood work wouldn't hurt & the vet will be able to see if her organs are all functioning properly. Hope you'll find answers soon, please keep us posted.

Oh wow...I had never thought about the effects of doing Rabies and Distemper together. I will have to tuck that piece of advice away in my hat for our future vet visits!!! I always have ask the vets to do everything(vaccinations, nail trim, anal glands etc etc) they can while my little guy is getting his teeth cleaned. I figure if they can do it while he's knocked out, it will spare him the pain and discomfort while he is awake...but what you are saying totally makes sense. These little guys have sensitive systems and allergies seem to run rampant in the breed....even to the vaccinations!! | |
