I have a pup with chronic pancreatis and he has both vomiting and diarrhea. The diarrhea due to pancreatis is usually yellow! I also have had other pups with it...always vomiting and diarrhea. |

I seriously have never heard of a dog getting THAT sick from Bordatella. I suppose anything is possible, but it is highly unlikely from what I have experienced and read. I have fostered many pups and none of them have had such a reaction from Bordatella. Now...DHPP is another issue. I have seen pups get very sick from them. |

They can get symptoms of kennel cough/tracheo-bronchitis from it! |

In addition to ansewers & comments above: BooBear just had a littel blood in her poos too. My vet is a very no-nonsense, pragmatic doc (not undereacting but not overreactign to things). She said not to worry, "just a touch of puppy colitis...", gave us a minute amount of a liquid med called Metronidazole that I use a teeeny dropper with. The metered amount, at .03ml is so little that I just swirled it in nutracal and th Poo-problem cleared up in ONE day :-) That being said -- my situation might be tad bit different -- I had just had Boo in the ER/ICU for what ended up being very bad naseau & gas, not a blockage. Little girl swallowed a gel cap. Not the insides, just the outside gelatin casing. So she had the test for Pravo, etc. Xrays, Ultrasound then later barium (sp?) contrast. She is fine but I nearly lost my mind last week. Anyway -- we had 5 different levels of poo-consistency from hard to the runs w/the barium stuff and doc indicated that as poo-poo moves thru baby's little tract the end production will often be looser thant the beginning poop. "...The last drabs w/blood was not surprising and as long as it was not profuse, the meds woudl clear it up".... And they did. |
Prayer for sick or injured animal Hope by now you have the answers and your mil's baby is ok.:aimeeyork so... i was a "so inclined...." to pray person and this is prayer i said while Boo was in ER and we were waiting and dying inside.... ( I used to pray for my nuero docs too, that they would be an "instrument of healing"). God, Bless the Animals... and especially those who are ill or injured. Reach inside of them and give them the understanding that You are their ultimate Healer and that You will guide them toward their own wellness. If there are human beings that are helping them in their healing process, make sure those people are Your true instruments, God - instruments of skill and of kindness. Thank You God for caring for all sick or injured animals, always. Amen |

Pancreatitis Pancreatitis can cause blood in the stool (diarrhea) as well as blood in their vomit. You must withhold food from the dog but ensure the dog is hydrated. The pancreas is ingesting itself and causes severe pain. Get the dog to the vet immediately! Syl and Gus |

Thank you so much for the prayers. Our little babies sure mean so much to us. If you never had a dog to love it is hard to understand how a person could have so much love for an animal, but then once you find out how great that love is, you kinda wonder what is wrong with the people who don't have pets. Our little Roxie is doing fine now. The vet thinks it was something the dogs got into, either while being border or shortly thereafter. She was given a shot and had a few tests run just to make sure. Then later that night her brother Gizmo (a shih tzu) had the exact same symptoms, and now they are both back to normal after a couple of days of lying around and resting. Thanks so much for everyone's replies, and I am so glad it isn't something more serious. Worrying is kinda a hobby of mine, and my babies (skin and fur) give me plenty of time to exercise that hobby  |
so happy all is well :) |
