Good to hear mimi and momo's air licking is nothing serious too. Funny thing is Ted has not airlicked since I made the appointment and he had been doing it for a few days. Carrots it is for Ted's new fat-free treats. Maybe I should get him on a commerical along with Valerie Bertinelli. I should figure out the darn camera so we could document his transformation. After I left the vet, i realized he didn't even weigh Ted; so I can't even say what he weighs..but he is a little chunker. |
air licker Our zoey licks the air as if she is blowing kisses. She does it when we are across the room from each other, and we call her name. She does it when she gets in our lap as if to lick us. I've never noticed her under any distress when doing this. :) Glad to know nothing is wrong with yours.:D |

Have you tried frozen green beans? They're great & doggies are able to digest them since it's cooked, then frozen. I nuke a couple of pieces & cut it up in tiny pieces w/the chicken & mix it in thier food. They love it. I think it's better than carrots, unless it's cooked too. Heard the raw carrots are kinda hard to digest for them. |

I read in a yorkie book 8 years ago when I got my first male, that the raw baby carrots are good for aiding in expelling the anal glands. I started giving him one a day, when he was 12 weeks old. I also do it with my 1 year male and 6 yearold female. I can't say if it's done anything for the female, but I have never had to manually expell the boy's glands, which to me is a bonus! |
Out of my three, only one airlicks. He doesn't do all the time, but when he starts, he'll do it for long periods of time. He's perfectly healthy and has been on the same food for his whole life. Go figure....Maybe it's just quicky behavior like when people tap the foot or fingers? |
Yeah, the carrots don't digest well, but it doesn't hurt them. Kinda like humans & corn! |
Yeah, I think as long as the veggies are cooked, it's ok. I heard that doggies have small digestive tracts & they can't digest raw veggies. If I give Mimi baby carrots, she'll sit there & shred 'em to pieces but never consume it. Momo will pick up all the pieces & eat it. Since it's in little pieces, it seems to come out alright. But if I give him a baby carrot, he'll chomp on it couple of times & swallow it. It'll come out the way it went in...in pieces. lol |

Well, Ted's "diet" has started. I think I feel worse than he does. No extra treats today (gotta go get the carrots and green beans) and a little less kibble and chicken. No "air licking" tonight...poor thing is probably too consumed with where his "treats" are to worry about invisible licking. Wallace, the lab, suffered right along with him. I think on Saturdays I'll let them both have something "forbidden." |
