I'm so sorry that your baby broke her leg but I'm glad to hear she's doing well. Thankfully Cookie has never had an accident like that but we used to have a mutt, Mandy. She was a big dog and sweet as anything, well my neighbor never liked her and one day we heard him racing down the driveway faster than usual in his car...not long after that Mandy came to the door and her leg was obviously broken. We couldn't ever prove that our neighbor hit her but we've alwasy suspected he had something to do with. She healed fine but like your baby she wasn't given a cast. Don't be surprised if she isn't up to her normal speed, also when she get's older be on the look out. Often times injuries like this develop into arthrites when they age. |

<sigh> Bluebelle went severly lame overnight on her broken leg. The vet (local) missed an infection when I went to see him, so went to the specialist again who xrayed and found fluid on top of the metal they put in. A sample shows signs of infection, so now is on antibiotics. After only a day of them, she is back to her cheerful self with a quite severe limp.... Its still quite serious that she has this, waiting on lab results and then we need to almost certainly get the metal removed when she is healed. So hopefully this will all be over in 6-8 weeks! Thanks for the tip ref arthritis, the specialist thinks that will be less likely because of her age and the way the bones came back together. We can but hope! |
