She is going to email her and see if she can help. I've got my fingers crossed that they can work everything out and that her momma will nurse these babies. I'm not a breeder so I don't know if her mommas milk would be good for newborns. Do you guys think this might work?

omg thank you so so much... please keep me updated... I hardly slept last night with those three teenie newborns on my mind...I prayed last night for this..I do not know how much to thank you for helping this person.. I do not even know.. sending many puppy hugs to you... keep me posted anne

Anyway, the bottle is too big so we are feeding with a syringe ever 1-2 hours- the vet said the first 3 days are critical-

any one experience this and have suggestions on how to keep them alive. we cant find a nursing mother, for that would be their best chance.

So sorry for your loss i had a simliar experince in feb. so i certainly can relate to your feelings. there are so many people on here that are more than willing to help in anyway it seems that Debra has covered everything
on taking care of the babies i would trust her judement, the only thing i might add is that your vet may know someone with a new litter that might help for a few days to get them started. good luck

Your prayers must have worked because I didn't think about it until this morning. I'm just happy her number was still in my phone under recent calls. Last night I was so concerned with directing her here to you knowledgable people that I didn't think of it. I just hope the pups are okay and it works out. I don't know if I will know any more information to share here but if I find anything out I will post it. It was kind of awkward calling someone I really don't know and asking for a favor for someone else I don't know. Oh well, just want to see the pups get help... that's what is most important.

Any news yet on these prescious newborns? So glad that YT members knew somebody that can help this lady. I am so worried now. Can you please keep this thread going and updated?
I once fed a newborn kitten , and that was only one baby. My goodness 3? WOW, this is going to be a tremendous amount of dedication. I remember how much it was just for one baby. It was extremely rewading though. However so much work. After a while the little baby would cry out for food, and in the wee hrs of the night. I used a little heating pad and made a bed for the little kitten myself, where he was safe. Every time they eat you have to rub their little behinds too. It's scary because they are so tiny and fragile. They can't even see. The biggest thing is to keep them warm, and well fed. And help them relieve themselves, and clean . :animal-pa

She has updated on someone else's old thread about orphan puppies in the Nursery. i told her how to copy and paste here. it is so easy to lose your thread sometimes.

Sugar's Mom 05-19-2009 03:41 PM

here is her update copied and pasted on the other thread. i hope she doesn't get upset because I pasted it in her own thread. i think she is kind of lost on here.

All 3 pups made it through the night- i have some hope from some very inspiring and encouraging responses- thank-you to all- i sent many emails out but didnt realize not to reply to the emails- (sleep deprivation- i guess the huge 3 lines of dont reply didnt even sink in) will try and send comments to all of you.

the vet showed me how to feed the pups with the syringe- he did not seem like there was hope for them- but i am not giving up- they are full term- a huge advantage. They are peeing and pooping everytime i feed them but they seem to only get maybe 1cc down and that is with spillage. 2 of them seem to be getting the sucking instinct down but the runt, 3 oz, is really struggling with that. Does anyone know what the warning signs are if they are starting to die? I am trying not to get attached but it is impossible- i never knew you could love an animal this much, but it is true, you can.

well, thanks again, i will try and figure out how to post the pics of them tomorrow-
rhonda

Hi Anne, I too was so glad to see her post here again. I sent her a PM and asked her to use YOU as a resource and offered up any help I can give.

mypreciouspups 05-19-2009 06:20 PM

I am glad to see this update.. thanks dee for reposting this in the original thread.. I am not sure if you have a set of scales.. but have some one get some for you at walmart.. they are cheap and you can put a paper towel in the bowl and lay each puppie in this after each feeding is what I do.. I keep records going on how much before and after being fed.. I also keep record of how much each baby took.. I worry about the one you say is appearing weaker.. please call or get in touch with one of the breeders well before you have a problem..if baby gets cold or begins to lose temp.. they will fail very fast..and you can lose one over night.. as they gain a wee bit of weight.. you will know this by weighing them.. you need to try to get a little more milk replacer into their bellies.. you need to see a belly that looks like a big pear.. in the belly part.. it needs to grow with milk.. if that belly does not look bigger when you have fed.. then baby is not getting enough.. as they grow the pear shape belly gets bigger.. it will turn into the shape of an apple as they grow.. this is what I look for to see if belly is full.. hope this helps

i am glad to see an update...

PennysMum 05-19-2009 11:06 PM

One thing I would do when I was raising orphaned baby critters would be to make a chart if there were several in the litter where I could record each one's weight twice a day, record how much I got them to eat each feeding, and mark off each one as they urinated and defecated after each meal. It helped to alleviate some of the constant worry to see that they were going in the proper direction, and would give me at least a little warning if one baby was lagging behind the others.

I'm glad to hear that the puppies are hanging in there. :)

how are the babies doing? where else is the OP posting?
