Default Orphaned 1 day old 3oz puppies-need advice please

My yorkie Izzy had 3 gorgeous puppies, all full term, everything went well at delivery. 4 hours later took her to the vet for she seemed to be sick and she died within an hour at the vet of EndoToxemia- i am extremely sad- i am not a breeder (not that that matters) but i wanted my 2 young girls to experience puppies- had no idea my Izzy would die. Anyway, the bottle is too big so we are feeding with a syringe ever 1-2 hours- the vet said the first 3 days are critical-

any one experience this and have suggestions on how to keep them alive. we cant find a nursing mother, for that would be their best chance.

Oh my goodness. That is HORRIBLY sad... I can't imagine what you're going through. I am not a breeder so I have no advice but I will be praying for these little babies. Rest in peace Izzy.

I'm so sorry you lost the mother. Could you post this in the breeder section, that way you can get help from some experienced breeders and they are more likely to see this in that section

I'm so sorry for your loss

But right now I think this person needs some good solid advice to keep these babies alive..

Ok first off I am sorry about what happened.. and you need to get a vet to show you how to feed these babies.. I have tube fed every two hours night and day.. I have not bottle fed new borns like this.. so am off no help.. but a vet will indeed teach you and you need to keep enough fluids into them or they will not make it..you need to get milk from the vet and cannot believe he did not set you up already with this knowing mommie died..
I will help you as much as I can.. if you need me pm me asap.. you have not got time to think of what is next to do.. those babies need to survive somehow and I will help you.. just ask...
There are many breeders on here that could offer help also.. maybe some one lives near you that can help.. babies need to be fed at least every two hours and one must do it consitantly... or they will not make it..please up date us...

I've never bottle-raised puppies, but I've raised kittens, guinea pigs, squirrels, a raccoon, and even an orphaned mouse once. I'll try to help until somebody with puppy experience pops in! Keep them warm-- a heating pad set to the lowest setting under a box where there is space for them to wiggle away if it becomes too hot is typically good. They'll need feeding every two hours, day and night. Very young animals cannot urinate and defecate on their own, so you'll need to stimulate them by stroking their little bottoms with a bit of damp cotton until they go. They need to both urinate and defecate after every feeding. Only feed a formula specifically designed for puppies-- Esbilac is one.

There are tiny, tiny bottles that can be used to nurse very small animals. These usually work better than a syringe. You need to be careful that the baby doesn't end up aspirating its formula, and I've unfortunately seen that happen a few times when folks were trying to feed a small animal with a syringe.

I'm so sorry you lost your dog. It must be absolutely devastating.

Here's a couple of links that may help you....Bottle-feeding and hand-raising newborn orphaned puppies, whelping supplies, and recipes for supplementing new born orphans - from Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia
Also....Bottle Feeding Puppies

This is just awful that it happened. I'm sorry for your loss. Post any questions you may have. This is such a critical time for the pups. It's an exhausting job but it can be done.

I find an eye-dropper works better than a syringe. It's easier to feed them (with the eye-dropper) without their aspirating the formula.

Has the OP come back on or PM'd anyone for help? This is so very sad. Please OP, post and let us know what we can do to help. Your vet should be able to teach you how to feed them, how to help them go potty, how warm to keep them, etc. If the vet cannot or will not help[ find another vet as fast as you can. You don't have time to just wait and see what happens. I am so sorry you lost your mommy.
