poor guy! I hope he's feeling better by the time you get home from work tonight. |
Oh no:( Poor baby! I hope he's much better very quickly:love: |
Oh no, I just now seen this hope TJ is doing better:aimeeyork |
Oh Nicole! Poor TJ! You are right about the IBD. Normally their tummies make so many noises. That's how it was with Maddie too. I hope and pray this is nothing serious and that he gets over it quickly. The metronidazole really works well and quickly when Maddie has flare ups. If you get some for TJ, just to warn you, it's awful tasting stuff, so you'd have to hide it in something that he would eat...or, like my vet does, he gives me some of those little pill casings to put it in so there is no taste. Hugs to you...get well wishes to TJ! |
Aw poor TJ. Have you tried giving him plain low fat yogurt? i usually give this to morgan when i suspect her tummy is upset and she has the squirts. It usually helps and she loves it |
Try some peeled apple. When the pumpkin does'nt work the apple usually does and the other way around too. |
Well.... It's not the pizza crust :( Before bed, Roxy had gross mucus poops. At 3 am she started to have the *Squirt* poops ~ same as TJ. I think the dog that had diarrhea on my patio on Sunday has infected TJ who now infected Roxy. I am assuming Giardia. I have poops sample from 6 am from both TJ and Roxy and I am going to the Vet for 8 am ~ hopefully they will see right away from the samples, and I will get the Metro for them both :( Does anyone know when their poop should get better  Figures, I am suppose to fly Friday nite, and this is *big* mess will have to be handle by hubby  ....oh great! TJ just had a little squirt and he licked it    ...........WHY IS THIS HAPPENING.................. :( :( :( |

when you take the fecal sample make sure they do a float and a direct. Giardia usually can't be found on a float which is what they usually do. hopefully its not that becuase it can be a pain to get rid of. maybe the dog just passed on a little stomach bug. you'll probably get metronidazole for both of them. i usually give yogurt while i'm giving this med since its an antibiotic. i have the liquid version since its easier to administer and it tastes better |
oh and if it is giardia make sure hubby picks up and cleans like hell cause its a pain to get rid of. he's so not gonna have a fun weekend. |
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear they're both sick. I'll keep you all in my prayers! |
oh no poor babies and mommmy!!! My baby had giardia when she was a puppy. It's so hard to get rid of. Yes make sure you tell hubby to clean well. I think it took a little while for sophie to get over. hope your babies feel better soon! |
This sucks :( Having 2 dogs *squirting poop* is not fun! Well, I will have fecal results soon. In the meantime, I got the Metro and already gave them their first dose. Now I am gonna try to feed a little yogurt (thanx Kellie) and hope for the best. I think I will have to at least delay my flight until Sat AM - if not cancel it altogether :( |

Marcel had Giardia twice as a pup (reinfected) - I'd say after starting Metro, the poos became more firm fairly quickly. But bc he was a pup, he had ongoing problems for quite awhile (which shouldn't really happen w/ your babies, as adults). If it is giardia, then the key is cleaning, as you know. I used clorox spray everywhere I could. Hang in there... |
Oh no Nicole! I am so sorry. I hope TJ and Roxy get to feeling better soon. |

As it is, this is horrible...and I can only imagine, if this is G and - oh man.... I will have to cancel my trip, bc even though hubby will take care of them, he also has to work, so between feeding them special food, washing butts, washing the blankets, and cleaning the floor, etc...I think it's just gonna be too much :( P.S. There is trace blood in the globs.... |

Marcel had blood too when had Giardia. Wylie maybe had one day of symptoms, then gone. Gosh, since this is contagious (thinking so, anyway) - what else could it be...I can't think of anything at the moment... |
Ok.... ~~~ NOTHING ~~~ The fecal came back negative. They also did a special Giardia snap test and NOTHING... This is just soooooooooooooooooo bizzare :( :( :( :( |
It could be food allergy. Try changing food & give some peeled apple. |
Poor baby and poor you, it is so frustrating when we don't know what is wrong. Hope TJ feels better soon. |
TJ & Roxy Sick Hello TLC: I have been reading the posts about poor TJ and now Roxy. I can feel for you with all you are going through. I guess the good news is a that the latest tests did not show anything, but that does not help the poor doggies and your family! We can only pray that whatever bug it was will go away soon and give you all some much needed rest from sickness and trauma. (I take extra interest in your posts and TJ, as she looks so much like my little baby Nikki who died of kidney failure last year. I feel it is my dog that is sick and that hurts a lot.) So my heart goes out to you and the furbabies and I wish them a speedy recovery. Warmly Wishes Nik's Mom. :aimeeyork |

...I also changed my flight for Sat. nite ~ so hopefully they will be on the road to recovery by then  I know that I have told you before, but I am so sorry for your loss, I know you love her dearly :( :( :( |

Tj & Roxy Sick Hello TLC: Thanks for your kind words re Nik, the pain does not go away! Lets hope the 2 little ones get better soon and that you can go on your planned trip on Saturday. Although your hub would do a great job, I am sure you would be worried while away. It is scary to think that these bugs can pass to the other dog so quickly and even from stuff on the ground. Very hard to keep them safe from everything! All the best to all and enjoy your trip. |
Oh Poor TJ, Can I tell you my Fletcher and my Dexter went through this about this time last year and turns out they feasted on duck poop. The ducks were landing in the pool when it was first opened and all brown and nasty. They hung out around the diving board. I didnt think anything of it until both my boys got really sick. It took about a week for each of them to get back to normal completely. Fletcher was on meds but Dexter was not. I pray TJ starts feeling better soon! |
Oh no Roxy too? I am sorry both now are sick. I am glad it is not G tho but not knowing is hard because you don't know what to do. Now with Roxy sick I don't think it can be this but I'm going to mention it anyhow. Buddy was sick for 4 months when he was about 1yr old. He woke up one morning and had the runs and it continued for days. I took him and stool sample to the vet and no parisites were found. Vet said it has to be his food! Strange because he never had a problem in the past. But anyhow I cooked rick and chicken until it cleared up somewhat and changed food only to start all over again. The vet and I talked twice a week regarding this. I cooked rice and chicken and changed foods every time it started clearing up which was everytime he ate chicken and rice only to get bad again when I gave another food. After 4mos I got frantic, he lost 3lbs during this time. I changed vet's. The new vet said he would start with the simplest test first, to worm him. Even tho there were no parasites in his stool, at times a MALE can be in the intestines so no eggs will show up in the stool. Nicole, after 2 days Buddy had a normal bowl movement. I cried and jumped for joy. If anyone saw me they must have thought I was nuts! It did turn out he had a parasite afterall. The poor thing went threw 4mos of diahrrea all because the vet didn't think to worm him anyhow even tho there were no eggs in the stool. Just a thought and I wanted you to know that a dog can pick up a male parasite just sniffing in the grass. It can go threw the nose and into the stomach and into the intestines and lodge itself there. It happend to Buddy, strange but true. Who knew? I hope your babies are better soon. |

Gosh, poor Buddy :( |
I agree with TLC, it could be worms. Also STOP the apple for a few days dogs can have allergys to apple. |
wow, so frustrating. did you get metronidazole at least to help with the poops? they might have just picked up a little stomach bug from that dog or it could be totally non related and a fluke that they just happened to get sick at the same time. I'd do the metro and yogurt, plus the chicken and rice diet. what food are the usually eating now? they're on special diets right? |
Also What kind of shampoo do you use, does it have tea tree in it? I know they have all kinds of products with tea tree and I guess it works for a lot of pets , but it almost killed my moms yorkie. It's highly toxic to animals so make sure your pets dont get any in their mouth. My moms dog didnt ingest any but was poisoned from absorbing it through the skin. SO ALL, do your research on the teatree before you use it on your put. I'm for all natural over prescription any day, However I always do my research first because some of it is TOXIC. |
Nicole...just thought of this, and I know it's a long-shot...but remember how your Mom's babies had a tummy bug a while back? Did she send you any dog toys or anything from her house during that time, or after, that maybe could've had the same bug? I know that's a real longshot...but I just recalled you and me PMing about her babies. :) |
