i did take mcdreamy to his vet, and she gave him the once over, said he looked ok actually. BUT, he IS having some diaharreha, and doesnt really want to eat now. She's suggesting i come back tomorrow and she will give him some Flagel. I am REALLY concerned about him. he' sStill walking in a sort of "slanting" mode, favoring the left side. Dr. doesnt seem to be real concerned (at this point). She Does say, that HE COULD have some swelling going on, but that often times, that goes down by itself, so suggest we wait since this only happened on satruday. I dont know, I am really concerned. Is it Possible that he could have some "brain damage?" he is the one who is ALWAYS bugging the other 2 dogs, yorkie and a maltese. Not since the accident, has he even BOTHERED with them. it's almost as if he doesnt know them. I dont know what to think. any suggestions? Quote:

You know your baby better than anyone. If you feel strongly that something is wrong, insist that your vet do a complete, thorough neuro exam. If he refuses, find a vet that will. Don't wait. Good luck, and best wishes for McDreamy! {hugs} |

Sorry that you are going thru this. I would take bon bons advice and call my vet back and tell her that you are not comfortable with how he is acting. But remember, the diarherra could be from the meds too. Best wishes to to you and McDreamy. |

I am so sorry this happened. I would continue to watch closely, he could very possibly have some sweeling/ or bleeding in his little head. I just learned about brain injuries last week in anatomy&physiology class, they are very serious injuries. He may always be a little different or he may be back to 100%, you just never know without a brain scan of some sort, but I dont know how likely that is that they do those for dogs. Just try to be there for him, accidents happen, as much as you try to avoid them, they can still happen. I hope he gets better for you. :( I have a 10 week old puppy who doesn't realize that if he jumps out of my arms he will fall, he is just a wiggly little guy when you hold onto him(he is just 1.9 lbs), I barley hold him in my arms so I avoid any accidents. He just stays down there and I go down to his level most times. |

yes, so, you DO know what i went through. You really think they died on you!!! Mcdreamys has been to the vet almost daily. I am just so concerned. He is off balance, you can see when he walks down the hall, favoring the left side of the wall. He's not eating much. was on rice, boiled chicken and cottage cheese. Has had diarareha a few times now. and, really doesnt want to do anything but lay down. i have two other pets, a 4 lb maltese and a 7 lb yorkie. msdreamys ALWAYS giving them a hard time, (not now!) i understand that he's probably just not up to it. BUT, COULD it be more. the vet doesnt seem to think that he needs any further testing just yet. I'm going to pick up some flagel this morning, i guess that will help with the runny stools. other than that, i just dont Know what to do for my baby. Quote:

Hi, yes it happened to me 2 months ago where I put her on the bed and my bed is very very high. Her daddy was on the bed with her also so she got so hyper then she thought the bed was not high and jumped from the bed. She landed on her side and did not get up for a second and i picked her up she was whimpering a bit and I put her back on the floor and she ran around like nothing happened. i thank God for that but Mimi is 5 lbs not 2lbs but I think Mcdreamy will be ok. Keep us updated. Hope he feels better |

hi!! first i hope your baby is doing better!! and second im not trying to upset or scare you just giving you my experience and not all dogs are the same. this happened to me i have a male that was 1.6lbs at 7 months old (too small for me and my family we had no clue he wouldnt get any bigger =) he fell and hit the edge on the bottom of the coffee table and we thought he was gone. he seizured i think, then he was deffecating on hiself and my husband chest while he was looking at him. we took him to the er, he came home with steriods 2 days later, and we kept him confined in a crate for a week. he also started walking slanted. he would follow me from room to room. i was very stupid and let him out with me 1 day, and my son who was a young baby then start wailing he was sick and i couldnt stop him from screaming. i went to stand in a chair to get his meds and i stepped on my babies head...its taking me years to be able to even think about that with out pausing in between words. what i will never know was if something already happened to him before i stepped on him? because he never tried to get out of the way. i didnt see him but you notice when a dog is trying to get out of the way from you. my husband always thought he passed away and then i stepped on him. i would suggest if you dont already please have a bell on his collar please keep him contained so that he can heal and just love on him alot RIP Magnum |

Hi Mom to Merlin. I'm so sorry that your baby fell. Even though it has been 24 hours based on the heartbreaking stories posted before I really hope you get the baby to the vet this morning. I would just walk in and make sure you are seen. If he was walking slanted down the stairs that doesn't sound good. I'll pray for you and again try to get there as soon as possible. :( |

Yes, I have had a similar experience. I have had and still do own several very small Yorkies. I don't care how careful, accidents happen. Hope everything works out. Sometimes the damage doesn't surface right away. Good luck and keep a close eye! Sophia had some long lasting problems but does very well. She got knocked off the sofa playing with another dog. She was two years old and not quite 3 pounds. She is now 10 years old and doing well. She did suffer a very small amount of damage but is not noticeable by most. Balance is awkward at times but mentally she is 100%. She can't jump or go down stairs which is fine by me. She is my love! Her tongue started hanging out just a little over the years but all is well. Of course I spent a fortune before all was said and done. She was medicated for years but has been off of everything for five years. |
