It might be a good idea to follow up with your regular vet either tomorrow (if they are open) or for sure Monday. I have had some experience with Emergency Vets and well, let's just say...I was glad I got a second opinion.

I do have a question, what meds did they send you home with? What are they for?

Ahhh....this story made brought me to tears....and these little stinkers can wiggle out of our arms sometimes...KiKi gave me a real scare yesterday outside and I was like an acrobat twisting to stop from dropping her....(onto a cement patio) luckily I saved her from falling! Gave myself heart failure...

Metacam 1.5mg/ml (give one syringe 0.08ml orally once daily for 2 days (start 4.19 pm

Buprenex inj. Rx (per ml) Give one syringe o.04 ml orally 3 times daily for 3 days, start tonight, this is for pain.

can you think of anything else i need to check for through the evening. thank you!

My thoughts and prayers are going out to little McDreamy. I am so happy he is at home with you! I hope he continues to recover and feel better. What a scary experience ! Thankfully the vet was so close to you!

Sharon...did you get ANY sleep last night? I bet after that scare you were up & down all night checking on Mc. How's he doing this morning?

thank God, you catch her! McDreamy is home, still not what i would say, all better...but i guess being on that pain medication makes you groggy. He was up most of the night, the pain meds i gave him at midnite, just didnt seem to take effect, until MUCH later, like 5 in the morning. Right now, here at 9:45 am, he's very sleepy. He did eat well, (all of his breakfast) s0o thats good! i'M GOINGT O CALL HIS vet this morning and see what she says. And, i might even take him back into the vet hospital just to recheck. thanks for caring.

thank you for asking...well, not much. I was up with him until about midnight. It was really difficult to tell if he was in any pain or not. But, at about midnite or so, his breathing was, what i would call at little faster than normal, and he was panting....so, i gavehim some pain medication. I would have thought it would have put him out pretty quickly, but it didnt. I know i dosed off and on up until about 5 am, (with him, right next to me) and he was somewhat awake, but looked as though he was drunk. Probably the medication. we got up about 6, cam ein the family room with the other two babies, (another yorkie Elliott who is 8 lbs, and a maltese Hannah who is 4 lbs.)
McDreamy ate his breakfast, (all of it) and that was a good sign. But, he just isnt playing at all with the other babies. Im not sure, if its because, hes still a"drugged", or he might be sore. Its so difficult when they cant "tell" you what hurts. I just PRAY that he will get through this and not have any internal injurys that show up now or later.

She ended up being totally fine but it was soooooo scary... she didn't move at all on the way to the emergency vet :( I was literally hysterical. I pray your little guy will be okay!

yes, this happened to me several years ago. my teeny girl was put to sleep at age 13, 2 years ago--NOT because of fall. she was just really starting to fail. she was a very tiny one too, barely 2 pounds 3 ounces full grown. when she was 2 years old, i was kneeling in kitchen at patio door--like balancing in a crouched down postion, and picking her up to wipe her off after coming in. well, my beefy shih tzu, came behind me and hit my elbow and she fell onto linolium floor, which is concrete underneath. she fell at about 12 inch height. same thing, we thought she was dead. we were 15 minutes from hospital. as we were nearing the road, she started moving her eyes. she was checked, and watched for awhile, and was told she had taken a slight concussion. i was a nut case after that, but she was fine the rest of her life. my little boy i have now is 2 and half years old, and only 1 pound and 10 ounces. he is a powerhouse, and a living nightmare everyday! i think your baby will be fine, but it def. really makes up paranoid. best to you and your little one, rose

In response to your message, I too had a small Yorkie hit his little head as he attempted to jump up on a couch. We had just moved and he was not familiar with his new surroundings and when he jumped he hit the underneath side of the top of the coffee table and fell limply to the floor. His eyes were open, but fixed and nothing moved on him. He did not respond to my voice or touch at all. We were in a new area, did not have a vet, did not know where the emergency vet was located and as you can imagine, I thought my precious Jackson had died. I carefully listened and felt for a pulse and heartbeat, wrapped him a warm blanket, instructed my husband to get the car as I called on my cell phone for directions the all night emergeny clinic. Same answers you were given. They did take an x-ray, thought he perhaps had a concussion, if he stabilized in the next fifteen minutes, we could take him home, watch him closely for the next few days to see if there was brain damage and fortunately, he was fine. I learned a very valuable lesson though. Learn the nearest emergency clinic, get a vet established before arriving in a new town, have all your pets medical records in one place, available for the new vet and learn cpr for animals. I have never been so scared and then so relieved. I do hope that your little guy in back home with no issues from his fall. These little ones really become special to us don't they? Yorkies don't know they are dogs any way, so it really is like taking care of a baby. Good luck to you and kisses to the McDreamy.
