Gracie has something stuck in her eye!!! :( ok so last night I noticed that there was something in Gracies eye... my hubby just said "dont worry about it... it will come out on its own.." well so I woke up today and Gracie was just whining and not being herself... :( so I called her vet and told them what Gracie was doing... they said that they thought it could be her back was hurting her... but that they couldnt get her in until tomorrow morning... but they would have some pain meds I could pick up for her... they did mention that I could take her to a vet er... so I got off the phone with them... just kept looking at Gracie... and noticed that she wouldnt open the eye that I had saw something in last night... and she just looked like she was going down hill...:( so I called her vet back and said that I couldnt wait until tomorrow... and I asked for the address for the Vet er... so my hubby came home and we took her to the vet er... they said that she had something on her eye... or stuck in her eye or something... so the vet gave me antibiotics like a gel to put in her eye 3 times a day. and he said if she didnt start looking better by next week to take her into the dog eye doctor... :( I feel AWEFULL!!! I just wish I could make it all better... :( I dont know how it happened... but now she wont eat... or drink... I just feel AWEFULL!!! |

They have saline wash for eyes...wondering why the vet didn't flush out her eyes...so vague is their diagnosis. I'd be going bonkers...lots of hugs & kisses for little Gracie, hope she feels better soon. |
Jessica, I am so very sorry that Gracie has an eye booboo. They are so very painful. I'll keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers..... When Emmitt was a pup he scratched his eye. Dr. Amy prescribed an antibiotic eye ointment three times a day for a 4 days and then twice a day for 6 days. He healed up perfectly. |
get some saline sol. to wash her eye out ever so often, that should help her eye. Hope she gets better soon.:( |
Poor Gracie! I'm so sorry she's having a problem with her eye and that has to be so painful. It is strange that they didn't flush the eye. Did the vet say if it actually was something in it or was it a cut? My daughter's puppy once got something in his eye that cut his eye. We tried the eye stuff for a couple of days and then were to take him back in. The vet kept him and put him under to flush out the eye and get a good look. His cut was pretty deep, so they stitched the eyelids together and about a week later, they took out the stitches and his eye was healed. We still had to put drops in a few times a day while he had it stitched shut. Maybe you should keep that appointment with your regular vet for tomorrow and get a second opinion. I feel so bad for you and little Gracie. Hugs to you! |
Hey Jessica, I'm going to post here so I can follow the updates, that way you don't have to PM me update too ;) Hope Gracie is feeling better soon! I'll get her toy that she left her out in the mail :) Lots of hugs from Bailey and I xxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
I forgot to add that if you need to talk to anyone my phone is always open. Feel free to call or text! :) |
Aw, poor baby :(! Eye stuff hurts, indeed. Has it been windy there, like here in AZ? If so, it's so dang easy for something to blow into the eye and either scratch the cornea or get stuck in the eye. Some eye ointment also has pain med in it - did he give you that? Keep us posted and I hope she feels better soon! It's just awful watching our babies in pain, I know. Hang in there. |
4 Attachment(s) so let me elaborate on what the vet did... ok so we got in there he put this dye in her eye and looked at her eye under a black light and he said that whatever it was was on the cornea... then he flushed her eye out with some type of fluid I dont know if it had antibiotics in it or not... but then he gave me some Neomycin and polymyxinB sulfates and Bacitracin Zinc Ophthalmic ointment usp... if that makes any sense at all to any of you... I am to put it in her eye 3 times a day and if she seems like shes not getting better Im suppose to take her into a ophthalmologist for dogs... because he said that they have almost like microscope equipment so they can see what is in there... so I took some pics of Gracie's eye... I couldnt get a real good pic of it... because I didnt want to bug her too much... the thing in her eye looks like a small tiny silver circle... thank you all for your concern love, and Prayers!!
