I know that we all need to pull together and pray for little Teagan so that he can heal. I am a very strong person in all aspects of my life but I hurt for both him and also my daughter Megan who is 13 yrs old. When I started to get involved in rescue I wanted to help and make a difference to show my kids~~my daughter what it was like to give and difference, to learn lessons in love and caring. I didn't expect it to hurt this much. :(

Even though he was with us for only a few short days, he was the puppy that my daughter had always wanted. We both knew that he was a rescue puppy and that he was not going to stay with up forever but I overheard her telling her best friend that he was the puppy that she always wanted. It was my daughter who originally talked me into a Yorkie to begin with and that is how I stumbled upon this wonderful place, researching and studying about the breed. I was a member here for a long time before I started posting and believe me I investigated a lot of different breeders in the year that we were looking for a new puppy. I didn't have a Yorkie when I first joined so I used my daughters and that is were my user name Megansmomma comes from.

The irony in this entire story is the breeder that Teagan came from I had even talked to about her breeding program. Her little puppies really caught mine and my daughters eye when we were looking several years ago. They were exactly what she had always talked about. But when I called and spoke to Marie several years ago she did not have a litter available. In the mean time as I was looking for another "reputable breeder" we were asked if we would like to take Pebbles from a friend who was rehoming her. Of course Pebble was still a puppy but she was nothing like Megan and I were looking for in a new puppy. But she is 11 lbs of Yorkie love :p Then we added Doodlebug and Bogey who are both Morkies from a mill and shelter, Megan still didn't have her standard size Yorkie who was about half the size of the 3 loves of our life. Please don't think of this as being selfish because our entire family love every one of our pups and our little foster guy Truman too. But Teagan was the puppy that she would look at on the street and point out that she would want one just like him or her. Does that make sense without sounding selfish. :( So when I first brought him home and she laid eyes on him I KNEW she was going to fall over~then I had to tell her that not only could he walk but there was a very bad accident that he was in and that he needed to go for surgery. She held him and loved him the entire time he was here. At first she was afraid she would hurt him but she is very gentle and loving. She would hold him on her lap and move his legs and help to feed him. I haven't even told her what the vets have been saying and how he might not be able to walk ever again or even the possibility of PTS. The morning that I was leaving for Indy she gave him so many kisses and so much love. :( In the few days he was here I know that my entire family showed him enough love to make up for what he missed in the short life he had before and so much more.

Once again I am rambling but it is one thing when your own heart aches but when you see the heartache of your children and it is over this tiny little bundle of love.:(

Jodi,

I believe you were meant to get involved with Teagan. I am so glad that when I responded to Marie's ad on Hoobly that I told her I was a member of YT.

You've raised Megan the way I have raised my son. Imagine an Executive at BCBS Insurance with a tiny baby bird in his office, that he is feeding. :)

We are all just going to pray for Teagan to recover.

If he turns out to be a candidate for surgery, and I am allowed to foster him, I will not apply to adopt him, I will step aside and he will be Megan's baby boy.

I don't want her hurt any further.

Hugs,
Sheila

It really isn't about adopting Teagan that was never my intent. I want to bed a foster mom to as many little ones as possible. I was hoping that this would be a wonderful experience for her seeing that he was saved from his former existance and would heal and flourish finding a wonderful home. She understand that any dogs are now here only until the find a proper home. It just breaks my heart because since little Teagan was her "dream puppy" ;) that there is a real possibility that he just might not make it and I will be forced to tell her the entire story. THAT is what is just eating me up about this. I wanted her to see that with good work and intentions that good will come from them. Sheila if you were to eventually be able to either foster or adopt Teagan that would be a wonderful positive life lesson for Megan~~and that is what I would like for her to take from this experience. If Teagan were not to make it and he needed to be PTS that is also a life lesson but a much harder one to learn from that I an not fully prepared for with her. It is a very kind offer to step aside but that was not my intent in sharing that part of my story.

Let's just hope we get a little more news today.:)

It is so wonderful to hear that Teagan could not be more loved!
Either home would be heaven for him....
I will be checking back to see if he is can indeed have his surgery.
When will we know for sure?

Jodi,

If we get good news today, (and believe me, I am praying hard.) and if I am approved to foster Teagan, then Rich and I will bring Teagan to visit you and Megan, or you can bring Megan to visit Teagan as often as you want.

I'd like Megan to learn that good things happen, and there are good people in the world. I truly want this to be a positive life lesson for Megan. I don't want her hurt any further than she has been, by seeing Teagan suffering.

I think you are truly a loving example of what a Mom shoud be.....

Sheila

That is the type of lesson that I would love for her to take from Teagan. To go and see that he is flourishing with as much love as he could possibly have, want or need. :)

Thank you all for all of the nice compliants to myself and Megan. They really mean a great deal and are helping me through this emotional rollercoaster that I have been on the past 3 weeks.

That is exactly the lesson I am praying God grants, with Teagan's recovery.

I am on pins and needles waiting to hear what YTNR's Neuro says about surgery.

It truly has been an emotional roller coaster, hasn't it?

Marie had my life tied up in knots, with all the phone calls and e-mails and my Vet speaking with her daughter, and believing I had convinced Marie to bring him out to my Vet with me.......

I was never more relieved than when you called me the other day and said you had him!!!!!

And after hearing the ER Vets report, I know she never intended to face my Vet.

Teagan is very much loved.

I'm hoping Jodi will hear something today from YTNR and we're praying it is good news. But I will admit, I am terrified, considering what Jodi's Vet said, and what YTNR's Vet said.

But I do believe in miracles and if the injury can be corrected and he can live with the congenital defect, free of pain, then, he will have a life full of love.

He will have the life every puppy deserves.

I also hope, anyone reading this thread, has learned, time is of the essence in regards to taking these little ones to the Vet. There's never such a thing, as a "wasted Vet trip".

The ER Vet he stated needed to be taken to a Neurosurgeon.

Supposedly, the daughter is a Vet Tech. She spoke to my Vet and he told her to give him 1/4 tablet of Rimadyl twice a day for one week, and then, for her mother to bring him out with me, to be examined after one week on the Rimadyl. My Vet was willing to provide the exam free of charge, because I wanted to adopt him.

The daughter never told my Vet that the ER Vet said he needed to see a Neurosurgeon. He was never told he had a congenital defect.

I see

Well you are also HIS fighting angel, without you and Jodi bringing this here to YT, he would still be suffering

It's hard for me to understand, why, her daughter, being a Vet Tech would not explain all of it to my Vet.

Thank you, I think all the members of YT are Teagan's Angels.

I hope Jodi will be able to give all of us some hopeful news.

I've gotten to know Jodi, because of Teagan and without her, Lord only knows what would have happened to him. She's one determined young lady!

She insisted Marie had to turn him over to someone who could afford his care.

OMG that video tore my heart apart. I'm in tears and its 7:57am..... Please keep us posted.
