neck injury Little Zoey is keeping her neck tilted to the side since last Wednesday, worried what is causing this.:( |
You really need to go to the Vet. Please keep us updated!!!! |
I agree, please get her to your vet asap, she needs to be seen. |
Oh, dear! I agree with the others. She needs to be seen by a vet asap. |
Oh goodness. She needs to see a vet immediately and altano-axial subluxation/instability need to be ruled out. |
I would take her to the vet. Please keep us updated! |
How old is Zoey and is she showing any signs of this being painful? Does she cry when moving her head? Sedrick is a Antlo Axial Subluxation survivor and unfortunately not much was known 4 years ago about this condition. You need to get her to a vet ASAP and in the meantime, try and keep her quiet and ABSOLUTELY no roughhousing and for sure no jumping. If she is in the instability stage it is much easier to treat and surgery may not be required. Please don't hesitate, if it is AAI you need to get it treated immediately before a subluxation occurs. If I can be of more help or answer any questions, please let me know. |
I would take her to the vet ASAP....but depending on her age could be an inner ear problem causing the neck to go sideways....I had a corgi do the same thing and then my 13 year old yorkie ended up with the same thing but is now better. There is a nerve in the ear that can cause this and no it isn't the sublextion thing :) So I'll pray it's the inner ear and not the other! Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
Zoey is in our prayers. Please update when you know what is going on. |
How do they test for atlanto-axial subluxation/instability? |
I was just checking in to see how she was doing? |

update? What is the update on your yorkie? My Yorkie has been tilting her head for 3 weeks, does not act like she is in pain, but this happened since she was picked up by her neck, so I know it is at least a sprain... |
Please update when you can. I to say AAI/AAS.. But please get it ruled out. A digital xray is what you need. And please make sure your doc/vet knows about this disease most have only read about it in text books and do not know about the congenital/aquired defect.. On Babybear it started showing up at a young age but didn't think anyting of it but he was at the vets office to be checked and was told it was a pinched nerve. Didn't know much about this 3+ years ago but boy a few of us AAI/AAS moms have learned alot and we are all here to help so please post back. This can be a very dangerous thing for your baby. So until you get her seen treat her like a china doll Please.. You can add to the injury or the defect if you let her run, jump, play she is very fragile if it is AAI/AAS... Not trying to sound harsh here. I have just lived through this. If you want to read about it go to Babybear's dogster page Dog profile for Wheelie Boy Babybear® , a male Yorkshire Terrier go to the bottom of his page where is diary is and please read.. Hope you come back and give us an update hon.. |
Checking in on this baby! Please go to a neurologists ASAP and get a digital X ray to diagnose your yorkie. There are a few members here that have gone through what you are experiencing and we are here to talk with you and encourage you and answer any questions you may have Please post as soon as you can .... |
