I'm so sorry to hear that Lola is having problems. Did the vet check her back...like pressing along the back to see if she has any pain? The symptoms sound so much like when my daughter's yorkie got a back problem, which eventually turned into a ruptured disk. He would also shake and go away from everyone...usually under a bed...he would cry too. Does Lola got up and down stairs yet? I can't remember if it is going up, or coming down that my vet said is one of the first signs of a disk problem. I hope you can figure out what is wrong and that it can be easily treated. Hugs to you! Get well wishes to Lola. |
It looks like they just did a blood panel and Spec cPL. If you are thinking it is gastrointestinal, they could go further with something like a TLI with B12 and folate. If you think it is neurological, the next step would be a bile acids test. And for pain, I just don't know. Xray everything? If she isn't favoring any area, it could be a long process. :( |

I too have heard great things about Care Credit...maybe you should check this out. Bile Acid test is simple and not all that expensive...that should be checked...if for no other reason, it will give you peace of mind. What about AAI? Google it or use the search here on YT. This should also be taken into consideration. What makes the vet suspect pancreatitis? Please keep us updated on what's going on with her. Again, my thoughts and prayers continue... |
Poor Lola and Mommy! I hope they can find something out quickly for both of you! I know this must be terribly frustrating. |
Just checking in to see how she is doing and if the vet has come up with anything. Keep us posted. |
Not sure that this is related to the original concern, however, I read that she also has a nervous stomach and vomits. I would have the albumin (protein) level checked and try very hard not to let her get into fatty foods. My little one who passed had stomach issues all his life and I am sure with more attention to better food he may have lived longer. Even though my vet suggested a medical diet, I now have found out that wasn’t the best choice for him. Good luck! |
Just checking for an update...hope all is well. |
Just wondering how your girl is doing? |
How's Lola? me too |
Sorry... So, Lola went in for Xrays on Friday, but the doctor who was treating her wasn't there. They took the pictures, but the doctor will call me (probably Monday), with the results of the xray and the culture. It's such a mystery....she seems completely fine most of the time. Like the doctor said, its "episodic". She's been okay these past few days, but at least once/day still has a bizarre "episode". I wrote down everyone's suggestions about what to test for, so when the doctor calls I will talk to him about it. He also said something about "irritable bowel syndrome" which I guess is REALLY hard to diagnose. Although, I REALLY think it has something to do with her stomach. I was thinking maybe her episodes are from having maybe cramping, or some kind of stomach pain?? This is an absolute guess. That's why I'm going to talk to the dr about the recommendations you all had, to see if they can do more tests regarding her stomach issues. I sincerely appreciate all your thoughts/suggestions! I was looking into pet insurance, but I'm just not quite sure if it's worth it because it doesn't even cover the things that Lola would need (luxating patellas, and all other pre-existing conditions). When the doctor calls, I will write an update, and let you know what we have decided to do, or what the results of the other tests were. Thanks so much everyone for helping me through this!! I can't tell you how much it has helped me!! I've received so many great suggestions, and will definitely be bringing them up to the doctor. |
