| Valentines Candy Terror!!!!! Hi y'all... My baby isn't well so if anyone has any suggestions, please help me & my sick baby Myah... My daughters brought home Valentines day candy from school yesterday. (remember how exciting all the cards & treats were when we were young!.. Now it's just another day) My girls aren't allowed to eat candy often so they went into a sugar craze over these small treats from their friends. My older daughter got NERDS all over her bedroom floor. She was told to pick them up before she went to bed but apparently didn't do a good job... at all. (was dark when i tucked her in, looked like she cleaned it up) Before Myah and I went to bed i blocked off the girls bedrooms as always. Well, Myah found a way to get through. She's a jumper and climber now... not always a good thing! I woke to find a spot of vomit on her PeePee mat (which she won't pee on, but apparently WILL vomit on!!!) She must have woken in the wee hours of the morning and snuck back there... devouring the small, sweet, sugary, (unhealthy) candy. I could tell from the nerds in her vomit. She did throw some of the candy up but if there was as much as I believe... she did eat a considerable amount. At the most there was 2 tablespoons of the candy on the floor... i don't think it was that much though, it was one of the mini nerd boxes. She seem pretty ill this morning but is getting a bit playful now, still hasen't eaten or drank much yet. Hopefully after a good walk she'll be thirsty & hungry. IF i should do something more... please let me know. How does the sugar from candy affect a puppy? Myah's just about 5lbs & she's almost 4months old. Thanks for all the help. |

| Since she is so young, it is very important to make sure that she is eating, drinking and not dehydrating. Are her gums pink? If she vomits anymore or has diarrhea, she probably needs to see the vet. Nerds are not toxic to dogs as long as they weren't sugar free and the sugar shouldn't hurt a thing. Ellie used to get candy occasionally (Skittles).

| Poor little Myah...keep a close watch on her, if she doesnt see better soon, i would take her to the vet, hopefully she just has an upset stomach and it will pass quickly. Keep us updated if she gets any sicker. Feel better soon, little Myah! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | That happened here....it's hard because it's hard to notice when they are little sneaky stinkers! I guess I was not in my right head (I'm usually careful about what I throw away), and threw away some Starbursts, and found the wrappers devoured the next day. At least it wasn't chocolate though!! I called the vet, and they said just to keep an eye on her, and she ended up being okay but definitely had an upset tummy for a little bit. As long as your little one vomitted, that's a good sign, cuz it's getting out of her system before it could be digested. The only thing I worry about is what another person said, about if she's not eating/drinking, that could be cause for dehydration and would need to go the vet to get injected with fluids. If I were you, if she's not feeling better tonight, and still hasn't eaten/drunk anything (drinking water is the most important thing though - that can't go long without fluids), then I would definitely take her in. Poor girl Our thoughts/prayers are with you guys. That's so scary I've learned from other YT members, that if they have an upset tummy, either try buying some Pedialyte (will rehydrate them and give them the electrolytes they need), and try giving some pumpkin (not the pumpkin for pies with spices, just plain pumpkin), they usually gobble it right up! It helps their tummy and gets something in their little tummies. Good luck, hope she's okay, I'm sure she'll be fine though.... |

Donating YT Addict | i hope she's ok but she probably will because Tyke has gotten sweet candy before by accident. at least she's not eating mosquito hawks like Tyke is sometimes.....lol they fly in the house at night and last night he run down 2 and then ate them...gross...sometimes the cat eats them. It would seem they would have the taste for candy over that....lol
