Keep Jack in your thoughts 1 Attachment(s) Jack had some kind of attack or seizure as I arrived at the dog meetup today. He fell on his back and was in distress, then went limp. I thought I'd lost him right there. Fortunately, I was a couple blocks from pet emergency and got him there quickly. They put him on a respirator because he wasn't breathing on his own, but he started breathing on his own within minutes and they took it off. Bloodwork and X-rays mostly normal, but glucose was high. Vet said that could either be a sign of this one episode and whatever caused it or a sign of diabetes. So maybe epileptic attack, I dunno. I don't think he got into anything bad. Biggest fear right now is brain damage. She said he was posturing sort of strangely once he started coming around, kicking is legs out. He's now heavily sedated, so he didn't show any signs of recognition when he saw me. So they're going to watch him for a couple hours and let me know. Just wanted to get some happy thoughts going here on YT! Here he is after his last haircut. :) |
Prayers are coming. Do you think he got upset seeing all those dogs at one time? |
Omgosh... I hope he's okay. :( |
Mike thanks for the update- i saw on your FB that he was at emerg and I kept refreshing hoping to hear something. We will be thinking of Jack and hoping he is out of there soon and back home! Keep us posted |

They think it may be epilepsy but dont want to put him on any medication right now , so I know how you feel...:(it is so scary and you feel so helpless.I hope they can figure out what is going on with Jack, we are thinking of you.:animal-pa |
So sorry to hear about Jack...... I hope that he comes thru this and gets to go home soon. We will be thinking of Jack... (and you and your family, too.... including Eddie and Rusty). |
This is a tough one as I know how much this little dude means to you and I can only hope that the vets can bring him around. He so looks like my little moose who is also a rescue but the gang here is all sending big thoughts to the big guy up in the sky to let us keep Jack longer down here. |
Sorry to hear this, you and your sweet family are in my prayers. |

OMG, that had to be awful to go through...for the both of you. I will be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers & will continue to watch for updates of hopefully good news. |
How frightening!! I sure hope Jack will be okay. He's in our thoughts and prayers. |
I'm so sorry...prayers definitely going out for you and Jack!!! Maybe you can bring Eddie to visit with him. I took my Standard Poodle to visit with Teddi when she was in the hospital for her liver shunt (before we knew what it was and she was in toxic levels and completely out of it). She perked up right away when she saw Cassie!! I hope Jack will be better soon. |
Get better soon Jack! You are such a tough little guy we just KNOW you will be back to your feisty self soon. I'm so sorry Mike, I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. Know that you have a ton of prayers and love from YT coming your way~ |
Mike, my thoughts are with you and Jack and your family. That has to be a scary scene. I'm so glad you acted quickly and were close to the vet hospital. Jack, you be strong, little man. You are dear to all of our hearts :luvu: |

I am praying for Jack. A year ago my 11 year old pom had a seizure, She let out a weird howl fell over and went stiff, stopped breathing and we thought she had died, then she started moving one leg at a time and started to come out of it. The ER vet said it was a grand mal seizure and that it could be an isolated seizure. She has\'t had another one so hopefully this will be a one time only thing for Jack. It did take Maya hours to return to normal and she did seem to be in a daze. |
R.I.P. Jack. 1/16/96 to 2/08/09. Thanks for the kind thoughts, everybody. They made the unbearable tolerable. |
