Hey there Michelle. You have been in my thoughts and prayers since I learned about what Lacy and you are going through. Glad to read that its a diagnosis that with a change in diet can have Lacy feeling Great in no time. I love that so many yters have posted so much helpful information for you, it sounds like you are on the right track and Lacy will get better, yeaaa!! Hugs from us and good healthy wishes too. :) |

Michele, I use oxyfresh pet gel for brushing, it seems natural, no alcohol listed, perhaps you can call 800-333-7374 and order a sample for Lacy. |
Michele, I am so happy you have made this decision. I have heard nothing but great things about her from Lisa Jodie and Lauren which is why I passed the info along to you. Looking for a update.:) One good thing is you are on top of it and that is what truly matters. Vicki Quote:

Do you know, does she ever advise commercial dog food...or does she always suggest home cooking? I've often thought about calling her for a consult on Winston, but I don't really want to home cook, unless I have to. Would she suggest a commercial food depending on the nutritional needs of a certain dog? Like Winston needs higher fiber and carbohydrates...and less fat and protein. |

She will suggest supplements to best help your dog- but again- nothing is mandatory- they are all suggestions. My guess is she would try to get you to do half kibble half home cooking, but only if that worked for you. |
Our consult got moved to Saturday mornng. Because of Lacy's unusual diagnosis, Dr. Davis felt it was best to do a joint consult with Dr. Gordon (holistic vet) as well. So I'll be sending over all her records and will then talk to Dr. Gordon at 10:00 saturday morning and then he will meet with Dr. Davis and she will call me around 11:30 to discuss Lacy's diet. I'm really looking forward to talking with them and hope we can get a good diet for Lacy. It seems like diet is the main thing in managing her diagnosis. |

Hopefully a diet change is all she needs. |
Petzlife Gel I had E-mailed Petzlife customer service about Lacy's diagnosis and my concern over the alcohol, and the owner of Petzlife - Bud Groth e-mailed me back and provided his phone number for me to call and talk with him. I called him this morning and spoke with him for about 20 minutes. VERY NICE MAN and from talking to him, you can tell he truly cares about the animals. He didn't give some automated company-type response but was very personable and said he was so glad I brought up my concern. He said he had spoken with the person that left the negative review posted on amazon in this thread, but they never did any follow up with him. He said he cannot guarantee that no dog or cat will be adversely affected by the product because each animal is an individual, but he truly feels like the product is very safe, as do many many vets who have used the product for their clients for years. He said the alcohol used is to keep the oils suspended in the gel and that the amount used is so minimal that most evaporates before it is even swallowed. So...after speaking with him I really really doubt Petzlife led to Lacy's problem and I'm really sure the product is very safe. The amount of alcohol is so small. I am going to bring this up Saturday when I speak to Dr. Gordon and Dr. Davis, but I will probably keep using the product. I most likely will just use a very small amount a couple times a week and try to brush teeth with dog toothpaste every evening. If any of you want to speak with Bud, PM me and I can give you his phone number. He also gave me a 10% discount code that I could pass along for the Petzlife website. It is APETZLIFE |
