Help I don't know what to do what does this sound like my yorki is having labored breathing and muscle contractions -almost like a seisure ,high temp, can barely move? |
If he is having trouble breathing and a high temp I would get him to an emergency vet. This could be a life or death situation |
oh gosh call the vet and good luck to you. Hoping that all goes well. |
Get him to a Vet ASAP, call and see what animal hospitals are open this early in your area. I'm saying a prayer for your little one, :hands: |
Your Yorkie needs to see an emergency vet. |
Any update? |
Update! Thank all of you who have replied! this has been my 1st episode of anything major happening and I own 3 Tiny yorkies. We couldn't get her into our emergency vet, so we discussed it over the phone and I was recommended valium. So we gave her a very small piece off the corner of 1 and administered nutri-cal several times. She is 3 years old and weighs 3.8 lbs. What concerns me though is that she had this seziure like episode for about 3 hours, really scary, constantly jerking, and it seemed as though she could barely use her hind legs she could stand and use the front legs but the back she was having trouble with, but no matter what she was doing - moving-laying-standing- she was jerking fast constant for 3 hours. I was searching all my books, calling people, and vet and emergency vet, the web then stumbling across this forum-which the response and concern has been wonderful! but after about an hour of giving her the med. she began to calm down and quite jerking, I am still very scared wondering if it is going to start back up again. This is my daughter's yorkie, she is 9,and scared that she might die. But now that she is calm and sleeping my little girl is fine. I am still so very concerned! She is still very lethargic, but I am unsure of wether that is from the med's. or just tired or? Any Helpful Suggestions and Knowledge would be warmly welcomed! |
When will you be able to take her to the vet? In this case, I don't think any vet could have given you accurate advice over the phone. They couldn't possibly have diagnosed her and don't know what they're treating. She needs to be seen and having testing done immediately in my opinion. She will probably need to see a neurologist. |
reply It is still going to be just a bit. I am just sick to stomach at this!:( |
Is there any possibility that she got into something toxic? |
Yes Yes there is always that possibility, she lives eats and breaths my daughter:p so yes! it is a possibility!:( I just don't know what:confused: |
i would take him or her to the vet...please keep us updated! |
This sounds extremely serious :( I think she truly needs to be seen ASAP by a Vet....I wouldn't wait too long, she is so tiny and can truly go down hill very fast...A 3 hour seizure is NOT something I would *screw* around with (IMO) :( |
She needs to see a VET, asap. PLEASE take her to a vet. There is really no other option. |
