Thank you very much. I am glad I reacted the way I did. I thank GOD!! It was very easy to not be focused and to lose control of the situation. MY KIDS are my two little yorkie girls and if anything happened to them I would just want to die. Some might think this is silly or stupid but those are the people who don't have a yorkie. My girls are the sweetest babies ever. |

I am so sorry, what happened to your baby???? I will say a prayer for Prince :( |
*****giavanna update***** We just came home from seeing Giavanna at the emergency vet and we brought Mia with us to see Gia's response to her. GIA IS MUCH MUCH BETTER!!!! I am thanking my lucky stars and all of you for your kind words and prayers. Thank you for helping me through this as I have been a lunatic for the last 2 days!!! Also the wonderful male Dr. who treated Gia. As soon as the Dr. brought Gia in the room she pepped right up when she seen Mia, our other yorkie. Gia was actually sitting up, wrapped in a towel. Gia had just taken a bath. The Dr. put Gia on the floor and she ran over to Mia and they kissed and sniffed each other. Mia has been looking for Gia :( As soon as my husband and I seen how well Gia was, my husband burst into tears. I have seen him cry maybe 3 times. My husband told me he prayed to God that if he made Giavanna better that he promised he would do something good. WE ARE NOT HOLY ROLLERS!! This has just been a real wake up for us. Gia is not walking normal though, she walks to the right and her head was a little tilted, but she can stand. During our visit her tilted head seemed to get better. I know she is way better than she was this morning. The Dr. now said this should go away and you won't even be able to tell anything happened to her. No brain damage or broken bones. The Dr. said if we wanted we could take her home, but right away my husband said no. Which I agreed she should stay one more night, just to be safe. I am a stay at home wife so I can pay very close attention to her but would not take any risks just to be safe. We will be bringing her home tomorrow as long as she is still doing good. I brought her from home 2 types of organic treats, nutrical, and two types of her Halo food soft & hard. She had just ate again before we came there to visit her. She wouldn't eat any of her food from us but she did eat TONS of treats and nutrical that we brought her. Then she pooped and pee'd :D All together we paid almost $1400 for this very sad incident. We would have paid what ever to save her life though, she is priceless to us. I feel bad for the people who cannot afford this when these things happen to their pets. From this situation, I have learned that from now on, no matter if it's night or day, if a room that we're in is dark, the lights will be on!!!!!!!!!! This way everyone can see each other and there are no accidents. I also now have 2 emergency vets programed into my husbands and my cell phone. I am also considering to switching from a medical career to a career helping animals. I feel very blessed and thankful that Gia is much better tonight. The last 2 days my husband and I have read some horror stories on here about this same thing happening to other babies, that didn't make it. I guess I was preparing myself for the worst. We must have someone watching over us. My husband blessed Giavanna tonight with holy water before we left her for the night at the vet. I feel much better and know she will be alright now. Thank you so much everyone. |
Your acting out of reflex/instinct helped to save Gia. Yes, there has been several posts about unfortunate and tragic events at home. Try volunteering at the local shelter. There's many cats/dogs there that need a friend to walk and give them a little special attention.:animal36 |
Oh. Bless your little Gia. I'm so glad to hear that she is doing better. These little ones are so quick and are underfoot constantly. I shuffle when I walk, just by habit now because I don't want to step on them. They become such a tremendous part of our lives, we just can't help loving them. I'm dreding now when I have to take Trixie in Feb. to get spayed because I just can't stand to see them all droopy. I think about it all the time. Well your little girl is a real trooper. It was nice that her sister could see her and cheer her up. God Bless and take care of that little baby.Sending great big hugs to her from..:aimeeyorkCOCO :aimeeyorkPEBBLES :aimeeyorkTRIXIE :ghug: |
I am so happy that Gia is feeling better ~ :D you guys are hero's in my book ! When it comes to out babies the price to get them better ought to be put aside on the burner... I am glad that your family is financially stable to handle this emergency. Gia is very forunate. I hope she continues to make progess, and makes a full recovery ! :D |
My thoughts and prayers for Gia. My applause for you and hubby, your quick thinking and response saved her life. Be safe Gia, get well quick and come home soon, Mia, your mommy and your daddy need you. |
I am so happy to hear this latest update! I'm glad Gia is doing so much better. I'm sure you would have loved to take her home tonight...I give you credit for doing what you thought was best for her. One more night at the vet will be good, and then she will be soooo happy to be home again! :) |

Thank you. I never thought we would ever have to deal with something like this. Hopefully there isn't a next time, but if so we will know exactly what to do. From all of your responses, I guess we did pretty good. This makes us feel better, but then again it is our fault too and should of never happened. |

I catch myself doing the shuffle with my feet when I walk too. I cried when I took Mia to get spayed because I didn't want her to have a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I put it off until Mia was 3 yrs old!! I was very scared!! She is a 7 pounder so she is pretty tough, but I was still very scared. Make sure you have them do the test before the actual spay to make she she isn't allergic. I am sure you know about this though. I pray that it will go perfectly as planned for you. Mia has been sniffing all over the bed(our king size bed that we all sleep in), like she was looking for Giavanna. Mia was also letting out sighs or like little whimpers. Mia is not a verbal yorkie at all. She just seems very sad. Then she was taking Giavanna's toys and putting them on my husbands lap and nudging his hand. Mia seen everything that happened to Gia and when we rushed Giavanna to the emergency Mia came with us too. I think she knew what was going on with her baby sister:( Mia was happy to see Gia tonight and she was sniffing her all over. I bet she was thinking where have you been?? I was worried sick about you:animal36 Dont you ever scare us like that again:eek: |
*****Giavanna's Monday Update***** The vet called me and he said that Giavanna is still getting better and can be picked up any time. I am going to get her right now!! I will still keep you all updated on her improvements. What a relief I feel. I thank GOD! :D |
I am so happy to hear you are picking her up!!!!! I have been worrying about her ever since I read your thread. She will continue to improve at home with all your tender loving care. |
I am so happy Gia is coming home ! She is going to keep getting better at home with you and your husbands TLC. :D |
Giavanna Gabbana . . She is doing better. To me, her swaying to the side when she walks has gotten less noticeable, I think because she isn't in a crate and can walk around. She has been sleeping, eating, and taking potty breaks all day. She hasn't played though. She needs to sleep to get rest so her body can heal itself. What a MIRACLE that she is still alive!!!!!!! I honestly don't think I could have forgiven my husband if she would of passed. We have a great marriage but it just would of hurt me too bad. I would of had resentment towards him. I wanted to yell at him. I was so hurt, but I couldn't because I know and seen how bad he felt. It was an unfortunate accident. Sounds mean, like I said though, she is my baby and Mia too. |
Glad to hear she is improving, I know it is hard not to be mad at your husband but accidents happen. |
We went through a similar experience with Adie a few weeks ago. It is terrifying to think that we almost lost her. Thank god dh did rescue breaths like you did. You and your little one are in my prayers. |

Does the doctor know exactly what happened? Was it a seizure? It sounded like it was unclear, and that DH may not have even stepped on her. If he did, know this can and does happen to everyone. No matter how careful we try to be, things can happen. And things even happen that are not caused by us. Just last Monday, my DH was sitting in the den reading the paper. Lexi was in her bed right next to the couch. All of a sudden, a really loud noise came from the dishwasher. It made my husband jump up and run into the kitchen. When he turned around, he saw Lexi lying on the floor. Apparently the noise made her jump, too, and she landed funny. She was limping and couldn't take more than 3 steps. The vet said to let her rest, and she would probably walk it off. When I called home at lunchtime, she was walking, but with a limp. By the time I got home from work, her limp was gone. It was such a freak thing, and it wasn't caused by anyone.... Give Gia a hug from Lexi! (And Mia too.) :) |

Awww that is weird about the dishwasher:confused: I will give them both hugs!!! ;) Gia won't eat her regular food only treats. I had my dh go to the grocery store and get her some amish chicken. I just grilled it and boiled some carrots and gave them fresh strawberries. Gia would only eat the chicken breast. She is a picky eater anyways. She ate about 1/4 of a chicken breast. We keep feeding her every time she walks up and goes to drink water, since she doesn't want the soft or hard dog food. She is laying down again now. |

Wow . . I am sorry to hear that. It was my worst nightmare. Thank you for the prayers. |
Also the final diagnosis was head trauma. I hope she recovers all the way.:( |
On Wednesday I have 2 classes that start. I have to leave at 10:30 am. My classes end at 4:40 pm. My husband may or may not be home before me. I was thinking of buying a pet pen to put her in instead of her cage. I was also thinking of just canceling the classes. What do you think I should do???? I personally don't want her to be left alone at all. I honestly don't think my class will end at 4:40 pm, but I am not sure. |
Should I buy this to keep Giavanna in???? Iris Plastic Pet Exercise Pen 63 x 63 x 34 - Dog.com Does anyone know if this product is safe??? |
