Senior Yorkie Talker | Daisy is coughing & sneezing....HELP! Hello, Daisy started coughing & sneezing last night. She did it off and on all through the night and then this morning, she acted like she was choking and it was like something was blocking her breathing. She doesn't seem sick b/c she is still running & playing like normal, but she sounds like she has a lot of congestion. She is still sneezing and it sounds like she is coughing to try to clear something out of her throat. I didn't see her get into anything last night, but you all know how these little ones can be sniffing things sometimes. We are taking her to the vet this afternoon to get her stitches out from her spay and so I am going to ask them what they think could be wrong with her. Has anyone else had this experience or does anyone have any suggestions? I had my mom come and check on her and she said it sounds like she has a cold. She has been on an antiobiotic already though from where she had 4 teeth pulled while she was getting spayed. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

| Poor Daisy! She could be having an allergic reaction to something, or may have contracted a cold. Good thing you are already going to the vet, because this sounds like something that needs to be seen! Let us know what they say. Oh, and if it is a virus, the antibiotics wouldn't touch it, it may need to run it's course with other medication to alleviate the symptoms. If it's an allergy, they may give her a steroid or benadryl. Also, different antibiotics work for different things, so she may need to be on a different type. Let us know what they say.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | It sounds like kennel cough which she could've contracted when she went in for her spay.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I thought if she had her bordatella shot, she couldn't get kennel cough, right?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ummm, no because the bordatella vaccine is largely ineffective.

YT 2000 Club Member | not much thats why I dont vaccinate my dogs from it. Its like them getting the flu, its a virus that can change from year to year just like the flu for us, sometimes the shot covers the flu, sometimes it dont.

Senior Yorkie Talker | We took Daisy to the vet yesterday and they said they thought she had an upper respiratory infection b/c she had a lot of congestion in her nose. They put her on antibiotics, so we will see if this helps! I just wanted to give everyone an update! I hope everyone has a good Friday!

| Oh I am so sorry Daisy isn't feeling well. My Chip and Tenci did the same thing that you described back in the summer. My vet said it was an upper resp. infection too. They took antibotics for a week or ten days then they were fine. I hope little Daisy gets to feeling better real soon.
