Just waiting patiently. THe vet goes home in 20 mins and his assistant said that he will call us before he goes home. We are only a block from the vet so if needed we can go back for a prescription. Oh ya, they were able to get blood the second time and he didn't get upset at all. So far he hasn't had a relapse and ate a huge plate of food tonight, drank his water, and did his business. He seems to be back to normal but I will update as soon as I get more info. Thank you for all the well wishes. I'm praying everything will be ok and it was an isolated incident. |
Well I have to say I have a 17 yo fighter! The vet found a small infection. What caused the seizures was hypoglycemia. He did tell me that his white blood cell count is up but probably caused by the infection. He did mention leukemia because of the high white blood cell count but he didn't see anything like that in his blood. He is on orbax for a bit to clean out the infection. He also said that chances are that he will not have another seizure. It would be very rare if he did. But in case he gave me diazepam. Also he upped Toby's prednisone to half a pill everyday instead of every second day. But other than that he is in great spirits. It looks like nothing has happened. Thank you again for all the well wishes. Having a very old dog is scary sometimes, because you never know what can happen. |
Glad to hear!! |
Over 36 hours later. Toby is doing his business, eating like a horse, drinking water and is happy as can be. Obviously he isn't out of the water yet. He has to beat that infection. He also is getting some bee hive syrup in the morning too. I was wondering if I can use my dad's glucose meter to test the blood sugar in his blood? |
So glad to heare he is doing good!! |
