| Lost 1 lb in 1 week My poor little Reese who is just 5 months old had developed diarrhea off and on over a 2 week period. I added on a new food gradually, but she had been on antibiotics for a cough she had caught. She had jsut finished the prescription. I had been giving her probiotics I had bought from Pet Smart. I noticed the diarrhea had gotten worse and then from pudding to liquid within a 24 hour period to (middle of the night) 12:46 am bright red blood in it. Reese had been eating and energetic despite this. Within an hour she started vomiting and still remained active. AFter 1 1/2 hours of this, I took her to the hospital for Iv fluids. They ran test all were within normal limits. Nothing in the feces, except Clostridium and campo. Guess what they put her on more antibiotics. This time I used the probiotics I got from the vet. It made all the difference in the world. SHE WENT FROM WEIGHING 4.06 LBS TO 3LBS. I WAS SCARED. She is alright now eating active loving. You have to stay alert to your pets health they can be subtle. If I had waited the 8 hours it would take till my regular vet opened she may not have been able to recover from dehydration. She was blessed to recover so quickly, it made me so very happy. |

| This morning she vomitted again. She is very playfull, I don't know if she hate the treats I had just given her so fast it made her gag or choke and then she vomitted because she has no diarrhea no lethargy . I am going to make her rice and hamburger again , and give her a dose as needed of pepto. Maybe her gastritis has not completely went away. The rice and hamburger will be easier for her to digest. |
