any idea what the elevated numbers might mean if they don't mean pancreatitis?

Exactly what I was thinking.........why she isn't having symptoms. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Whatever is going on with Layla, I do hope it can be delt with by useing a low fat diet.

Well I'm going to pray that the tests come back negative and it was just something she ate at the moment and that it won't happen again poor little girl. She has my heart for sure that little munch!

I have nothing to offer information wise...but I can offer my thoughts and prayers. I do hope your Layla will be just fine.

Lipase and amylase are really not accurate at all for pancreatitis as my boy almost died of pancreatitis and when he felt good the lipase and amylase were high and vice versa when he felt bad. This is when i realized it means really nothing . The true test for pancreatitis is CPLI AND TLI which is most accurate even more so than ultrasound. My dermatologist also said in vet school they pretty much threw those two out on a blood test as they meant nothing.

Treat the dog not the blood work. IF it was pancreatitis your dog would be vomitting alot and/or diarhea.

I would not be concerned at all about this but i would have a pre and post bile acid done if you have not had that done as due to the high numbers on my dee dee the vet wanted that checked out for some reason and she was mvd which is not a problem just low protein diet.

These dogs need to have a low fat diet as they have a high fat content in their blood stream which makes them susceptible to pancreatitis so i only treat with organic chicken and organic steamed carrots.

If you want to rule out pancreatitis then they can do the cpli and tli add on with next blood draw to rule it out. Beef is high in fat so stick to chicken as a lean protein as well as fish -- maybe do natural balance fish and sweet potato as a low fat diet.

Layla can't have chicken... she gets extremely itchy... so we are stuck with extra lean ground beef. Also the vet said to stay away from fish right now until we find out why her numbers are high.. since fish tends to be fatty as well (although i was reading the mackerel and tuna are low fat) .

I just got her California Natural Rice and Lamb low fat.

no fish is not high in fat -- salmon is higher in that but not cod -- white fish -but wait and see but I do not think you have anything to worry about -- they probably sent out for cpli and tli test.

Let us know how it all comes back but I think it is because yorkie breed tends to have more fat in their blood as both my yorkies tend to be high on that and my maltese is not.

I still do not like the beef -- how about xtra lean ground turkey ask vet as beef is too high in fat for a dog they may think has a mild underlying pancreas situation.

No treats just stick to basics as pancreatitis is very costly and yorkies are prone and after spending 10k I would not take any chances again with a yorkie
