Never use ivermectin in a yorkie
 
My friends dog is in internal medicine right now as the dermatologist gave her .17 ivermectin for demodex mange and she had seizures from it as it was an over dose and she may not make it so yorkie prayers are needed please -- she is just laying there with her tongue hanging out after being sedated all day by vet and now transported to internal medicine hospital --

Please do not use interceptor or ivermectin drug on any toy breed

OMG, how terrible. I hope she makes it - I'm sending good thoughts her way. :(

Prayers are with you....I've used Interceptor for years, I lived in Texas so required heartworm meds, Interceptor is the safest to use for breeding dogs.....no adverse reactions.....

I know that doesn't help your friend feel any better at this point, I pray that the dog recovers.

They want $4500 ufpront to observe her for 3 days to see if she will make it as she is in a coma -- my friend does not have the money right now so what is the best way to get the money through care credit?

She can apply online! CareCredit® Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures Also, I have a list of organizations that can help with medical bills...I will find it and pm it to you.

:eek: $4500 sounds like an awful lot of money for observation!!! Thoughts and prayers going out to your friend and her yorkie!!

thanks does she have to have good credit as her credit is shot from divorce :(

i need to learn more about ivermectin -- it's in frontline/all heartworm meds, no?

Sounds a bit strange to me that she's being charged at all. I would think the vet that administered the meds would be covering the expense.

it was the dermatologist an hour a way :( she had to take her to internal medicine specialty hospital to be treated for seizures as dermatologist does not have that kind of facility but she will be getting reimbursed from this dermatologist if i have anything to do with it :(

Some dogs are sensitive to Ivermectin. I don\'t think that is the vet\'s fault unless the dose was totally out of line.
I would wonder if they gave this poor little dog a test dose to see if it was sensitive to it.
