thank you for your advice............................................ ............. Bubba is a little hard to understand. We have a fenced in yard.....He JUMPS IT!!!.....I tried tying him up one day.....He almost strangled hiself!!!....And he only follows the kids around. Other than that he sits out in our drive way and watches traffic!!!! I truly believe that this person swerved to hit him. |
So very sorry to hear about your pup. :( If you know who hit him I would contact the proper authorities. Please don't take this harshly, but it is our job to protect our dogs, even if they want something it is up to us to decide if it is safe for them. He may want to run the streets following your family but it is not safe for him. I'm not say it is your fault but he is really lucky he was not killed. Perhaps setting up a run? My BF has a doggie door leading out to a X pen and kennel that way his pups can run around, but if they dig they will only dig out into the fenced yard. If it is still a problem perhaps looking into An electronic fence. My dad has a german short hair pointer, he has 2 1/2 acres but loved to get out. My dad trained him with an electronic fence and if he gets close to the edge it beeps, if he gets closer a vibration, then when he starts to cross it shocks, He only got shocked once and he understood and now he knows where to stay. Many say its mean, but it is better than seeing your pet die or injured. :( Good luck, and I hope has a quick recovery. |
Thanks for all the advice. I did not post to hear what I should have done. Support is what I was needing. |
Hi, Has your vet done any exray's on him? An exact Diagnose's of his injuries is extremely important. Did the vet give you any pain meds to administer? He must be in so much pain. I am thinking more can be done to ease his pain and suffering. That way he can continue to heal more comfortably. I am sorry he was injured. I hope he will make a full recovery. However, it will take many months to heal fractured bones. That is why the vet needs to know for sure what is going on. Your dog may benifit from some sort of cast/sling/or bandage. To help him heal the right way. Also, if it does not heal properly he could be lame the rest of his life. Surgery is sometimes necessary to place the bones back together. :animal36 |

I am so sorry this happened to you guys. Hope he heals well and is good as new soon. |
I've been thinking about you and your guy and am checking in to see how he's doing. Glad to hear he tried to stand. Recovery can be slow and sporadic, don't expect too much too soon. He sounds like an amazing dog! |
Update? How is the dog? I hope you ended up getting a second opinion and giving this poor pup time to heal. I would not even consider putting a dog down unless enough time passed that it becomes apparent that the dog is never going to be right and it is suffering as a result- best wishes! |
Bubba Bubba has gone to the rainbow bridge. The vet that we took him to for a second opinion says that he is not going to recover. That he permenantly will have no use of his back legs. :( Thank you to those that have offered support. To the rest please do not respond.:( |
Oh...I\'m so sorry to hear that, I was just wondering how he was doing today. I\'m so sorry for your loss.:cry: |
So sorry to hear about Bubba... My thoughts are with you and your children.... |
