Pia's eye : ( Hey guys, I am so upset right now. Pia has a tiny mark on her right eye. Its not very big and kind of cloudy looking. My first thought was a cataract but who knows what it could be. She's only 3 1/2 years old. :( Can they even get cataracts this young? My favorite vet moved far away and I tried a new one but I did NOT like this place. I want to have her looked at right away but I don't want to take her just anywhere. My poor baby girl. :( She's acting completely normal but I can't stand the thought of not knowing what's wrong with her little eye. Please keep Pia in your prayers. If you have any ideas about what this could be please let me know. I just feel sick right now. :( |
Poor Pia :( What kind of mark is it? Can you post a picture of it? |

I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but could it be a piece of lint or something on the top of the eye. I saw something like that on Zeus once, and at first glance, I thought he had a cut. |

Picture 1 Attachment(s) This is what it looks like. I had to crop the picture so everyone could see it. Its not as big as the picture makes it out to be but you definately get the idea. :( |
I'm not sure what that is. The picture kind of makes it look like a little "bubble". I agree that you should have it looked at by a vet. I hope you can find a new you you trust. Please let us know what they say. I'm very curious. |
Im not sure if its the same but my Diesel has the same thing. I took him into the vet and he did a dye test and he has a scratched cornea, its actually scarred. There is medical term for it but cant think of it right now. I noticed him squinting his eye after picking him up from the groomer, the vet said its very likely she actually cut it. This was months ago and its still there. My vet said it always will be there. Oh almost forgot, I needed to put eye ointment on it for a week. I hope this helps. |

By the way its not like a bubble in person but I can see how you thought that. Its so hard showing it with a picture. Thanks for trying to help. ;) |
Omg Dina, that looks so sad :(, it almost looks like something's glaring off of it but I understand that it's not. Could you possibly make another post in the regional forums asking for favorite vets around your area? I hope you can get it looked at soon and I hope it's nothing too serious. You both are in my thoughts! Also, try Googling it, I did but I don't want to put what I found because I don't want to scare you BUT I didn't look at a lot of what came back. Check that out girl! |
Sure hope it turns out to be something minor with an easy fix...try not to worry too much...i know thats hard...good luck at the vet! |
aww poor Pia...she will be in my thoughts for sure! |

I'm sorry about Diesel. :( I hate thinking of Pia's eye being scratched but I'd rather it be like Diesel before being something really serious. I feel so helpless right now. I just want her looked at right now. I keep looking at her and I feel so darn bad. I have no idea how I missed seeing this on her. I feel like the world's worse mommy. :( |
Sending healing thoughts to precious Pia. Hugs to you all. Please keep us updated. |
AW poor PP baby girl. I hope you find out soon what it is. Lets Hope that it is something easy to fix:( |
I'm sorry to hear about little Pia. I found this site: Pet Health Care Questions and Vet Advice. Ask Online Vets Advice on treating Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, Hamsters, Gerbils, Ferrets, Reptiles, Horses, Rabbits, Farm Animals, and More! - Just Answer! I have never used the site myself. Of course, it can't compare to an exam by your vet but maybe someone can there can help.:) I think there is a fee. |
if you look at it from the side does it look indented? if so it could be a scratch and the cloudiness is it healing over. |

Thanks girl!! I'm going to give it a try. I'm going to have myself crazy before we even get to the vet. :( I can't stand not knowing because I'll sit here and dwell on the worse thing in the world. I just keep looking at her little face and I'm getting myself even more worked up. :( |
It almost reminds me of a cataract. (?) I'm going to do some reading to see if I can see anything like it. Poor Pia. :( xoxo |

I wondered about it being a scratch too. I read that sometimes they will stick their heads in bushes and it's possible to get a branch poked in her eye. She's not blinking more than usual? Or it's not watering? |

I'm sure she could have scratched it but who knows how. We go to the park so much and plus she's Miss Bully around here and plays rough. Sometimes the others run into her accidently and she gets knocked over. However, she bounces right back up and goes after them. I just have no idea what to think. If she has to be put under for some type of surgery I'll just lose it. We had so many issues when she was put under before and almost lost her. I'm praying its just a scratch. Thank you so much Jeanne for looking up things. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. ;) |
Could it be a scratch? Scampers got attacked by one of the cats once and they scratched his eye and it looked very similar. I took him to the vet and they gave me eye drops to put in to help him heal and he was fine after that. I hope Pia is alright and that you can figure out what it is. Give that girl a hug for me!! Keep us updated!! |

Hey girl, a few others also mentioned a scratch as well but I have no idea. :( I just want it to go away. Thanks for trying to help. |
Vet Appointment Hey guys, I just called a few minutes ago and I was able to get an appointment on Monday. I have to have her there at 3:00. Now I just have to stay busy and think of other things because this is driving me nuts. :( |
Oh Dina, I'm so sorry and I can just imagine how worried you must be. When my Cali was a baby (before I even brought her home); she was playing with her litter mates and Cali got a partial puncture in her cornea. It didn't do any damage because it wasn't a true puncture and did not go all the way through the outer protective layer of the eye and it healed with absolutely no scarring at all. Maybe it is the same thing with little Pia and her eye will heal perfectly fine. Please give Princess Pia extra hugs and kisses from me. xoxo |
saying a prayer for pia and sending her puppy hugs and kisses. |
Oh Dina, I can see why your so upset and worried about little Pia's eye.....There is defiantly something there, I hope it's something minor, poor baby..... I will be thinking of you and Pia and will be anxiously waiting for your update on Monday.....Good luck and try not to drive yourself crazy thinking the worst....... |
