Gabby can't walk...NEED HELP! I went away with the furbabies this weekend. My cousin has a inground pool and Gabby was having the time of her life. She ran so much around the pool for hours and I didn't even think that the concrete was going to hurt her little feet. Her paws are raw...I feel so bad for her because she can't walk. I have to pick her up to go potty and bring food & water to her. She really doesn't have an appetite either..I guess because she's in pain. I've been giving her nutrical just in case. Have any experienced this before? What can I do to make her feel a little better until I take her to the vet tomorrow. I feel so horrible right now that I'm crying because I do not know what to do for her. |
:(:(:(:( ouch !! poor baby ! Try some triple antibiotic ointment - they have some that help with pain and I'd just do what you're doing - carry her around.....but watch for infection - I worry about that too walking my girls on the sidewalks where I live....I don't know what to tell you cept maybe she needs water shoes for the next time ? (or little baby socks ?) Good luck....I hope she feels better soon |
Gloria, I am so sorry that Gabby's little feet are so sore. She must have been having such a wonderful time. I don't have any advice but wanted you to know I am sending prayers. |

Thanks V I feel so horrible. I didn't even think that the concrete was going to do that to her little paws. I just called our local emergency vet and they told me the same thing....don't let her walk, and wrap her paws which I already did. I also went to CVS and bought the antibiotic ointment that helps with pain too. I'm such a bad mommy:( Do you know where can I find water shoes? |

She was having the time of her life. I don't think she's ever been swimming because of how she was running and playing and enjoying herself. |
For now you can use New-Skin on her feet. It's a liquid bandage that works well. The first application stings a little but after you have a layer on it doesn't hurt any more. Good luck! |
Gosh. Bella and I were in the pool today I didnt even THINK about the concrete~ Sorry your baby is sore..but thanks for posting this! |

She's been licking her paws. Should I also gauze them if I apply the new skin on her feet? |

Lesson learned for me. To top it off when I called the emergency vet...the rude vet was like well keep her away from the pool....she said yorkies do not need to swim. Talking about I wanted to strangle the woman over the phone. She made me feel even worse. |
How do you get the new skin off? I dont think I would put that on if it is like some kind of rubber stuff. I would just wrap her feet if she keeps licking them. |

It depends on if yousee blood or just raw being the pads (thick) area are (abrasion type of or the first layer of skin rubbed off) bag balm might help and I don't think it has anything that is poisonous? I haven't looked at the ingredients for awhile and I don't know were the jar I have is. |

I would put the ointment on and wrap her feet in that gauze wrap or if you can make little socks out of a glove or something. I bet by morning she will feel better. Don't feel bad you had no idea. She will be much better after keeping off her paws for awhile and the ointment. |
Thanks everyone. Now she's licking her paws and the gauze was soak and wet so I had to remove it and now waiting until her paws dry. I feel so helpless..:( |
