awww....the poor baby! I hope she's feeling better soon! |
I would also use Neosporin. But what to do to keep her from licking her paws...even gauze won't stop that. I like the idea of cutting the fingers off a glove and pulling them up over her legs. How about that colorful wrap they use on horses? It sticks to itself, so it shouldn't hurt her or pull her hair...I think that would work great!!! Don't feel bad, how could you have possibly known...we live...we learn...right? |
Hoping Gabbie's little paws are better this morning and you are able to update. God Bless her. |
aw i'm sorry gabby hurt her little paws. My friends dog did this too a few times. they get so excited when people are in the pool. if there is grass near by the pool i would get a tether and put her there so she can't run circles around the pool. as for her feet now, are there any cuts or deep abrasions on her pads or in between them? if so then you should get that treated by the vet. if its minor then put neosporin on her and get an e-collar so she can't get to her vet. that's the only way to keep her away from them if she's that determined to lick at them. sorry. |

How are you? She has not cuts that I can see. There wasn't blood on the gauze either. I'm going to call my vet today to see if he wants to see her. She was feeling alot better this morning. |

Thank you! I could tell that she was feeling better this morning. |
Know whats weird is that I just posted the SAME thing almost on the General discussion website. My baby has 2 bleeding toes from his nails being filed down to nothing and his pads on his other foot are rubbed down also. They are not raw, I think I caught it in time but my poor baby! I put vaseline on his pads and his toes to stop the bleeding and ease the rawness, we wrapped his foot in cotton gauze and secured it with rubbed bands pretty loosely. I did find these bootie things online that I think Im going to buy and try for my boys! Yesterday I kept them in most of the day since this pad/paw fiasco on saturday. Clean Run: Pawz Protective Dog Boots I hope your baby girl gets better quick! who would have thought that their paws were THAT delicate! Now we know huh? :) |

I'm doing well. I got a new poodle puppy a month ago and her and morgan are having a blast together. How have you been? What did the vet say today? |

ahhh poor Gabby, I'm sorry she's in pain, but I'm glad she's feeling a little better today. Did you take her to the vet or is she feeling a lot better now? |
Here's a good suggestion to avoid paw pad injuries Sorry to hear about your little Yorkies sore feet. I think that the vet may suggest an antibiotic to prevent infection.... I would make an appointment just to make sure. (and for peace of mind.... It would be bad to an infection there! :( ) Hope everything heals quickly! We use Excel Paw Wax on Shelby & Seymour when we camp. (and sometimes here at home, too) It is a wax that you apply to the pads of their feet and it protects them. You can get it at Petsmart (online, also). Here is a description of Excel Paw Wax:/Protects and conditions dog's paws all year round. Helps prevent paw damage from gravel, asphalt, ice, snow, salt-treated roads, hot pavement, and all hard surfaces. Also provides grip on slippery surfaces. Ingredients: White oil, paraffin wax, rosin, silicon dioxide, perfume. |

AWWW so sorry about your baby:( I never would have thought this would happen...but just like you said....now we know. I hope your baby feels better soon. I came home from work today and could see her paws already healing...she's doing much better now. My vet recommened to wash her paws with antibacterial soap which I have been doing and I also applied neosporin and it seems to work. Thanks for the link...I am definately going to buy this for all three. |

Oh you did! How exciting! Do you have pics of her? Called the vet and they said to keep her little paws cleaned using antibacterial soap and to apply neosporin as needed. She's doing much better today...thank goodness! I think I was hurting more than she was. |

Oh yeah she had the time of her life. I don't think she's ever had that much fun in her life...I think she's never been around water by the way she was acting. I loaded pics in the public album. I have a video too but need to figure out how to load it...you'll see then how much fun she had. |
