I Love My Babies Donating Member | Sandy is hurting after spay Is there something I can give Sandy. She can't settle down after her spay. She keeps shifting, like she is in pain. I called the vet but they are closed.

| aww....the poor baby! The Vet didn't send her home with any pain medication? I'd call first thing in the morning but in the meantime I might try a little ice (not heat). Wrap an ice pack in a dish towel and see if she'll lay on that. It'll help reduce the swelling. Just make sure she doesn't get wet....you may even have to use 2 towels. Good Luck! | Layla also came home with no meds when she was spayed and she too was "uncomfortable" i never got the impression she was in pain, she was just... having a hard time getting comfy. I agree with the ice but i'd be afraid it would be too tender right now. Can you call an e-vet and see what they suggest? how big is she? |

| Poor baby. I know what you are going through. I didn't get any pain meds for my little guy. I hope your baby feels better soon.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby - I dont know why some vets give medication and some don't - I THINK (Call an ER Vet to double check) you may be able to give her a tiny bit of baby asprin.... but I'd def call someone before doing this. There's lots of ER Clinics open at night and many times will tell you if you ask them what is safe and what isn't after a 'procedure' (operation) good luck ! |

| You know I have been seeing a lot of this lately and it makes me kind of upset that the vets are not sending these poor babies home with pain meds. I completely understand not all dogs need them but why not send them home with one night’s worth just in case. I me they are having surgery and like people some dogs handle it better than others.

| Darla was spayed yesterday,& last night she was kinda like that. They told me not to give any aspirin, tylenol or motrin. She could have her pain med. this morning. which is Metacam. She only gets it 1 time a day (morn.) 4 days worth. She tries to walk around some & then hurries to sit on her behind. I wish we could do more for them. |

| Oh, Bobbi, I am so sorry that Sandy is in pain. I would have thought they would have given her pain med, just in case. Toto didn't require any but had Metacam when her ribs were seperated and it worked great. When she had her spay, I held her and she just slept and slept and didn't need anything for pain. Poor Sandy, I hope she feels better tomorrow. I will keep her in my prayers. Please give her hugs for us.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I know when Pixie had dental and Cali was spayed they gave her a shot that they said would last til the next day and then they gave me tablets for 3 days. I would call an er vet and see what they say you can give her. Hope she feels better tomorrow

| I'm so sorry Sandy isn't feeling well. I am sure she is just not comfortable. Hopefully one of the ER clinics will be able to give you a suggestion. Give her puppy kisses from us.

| Poor Sandy. They gave both of mine Metacam to take home. They told me not to give a dose until the next morning though.

| How is Sandy doing now? Were you able to find a way to make her more comfortable?
