Please Pray for my Little Mattie
 

I am asking for everyone to pray for my Little Mattie. Today she was acting kinda wierd and I went to the doctor and came home and my Husband said to look at her. Well I went to get her out of her bed and she was wobbly (hard to explain) her head was wobbling back and forth and she couldn't stand up.. I grabbed her and took her to my vets. Thank God I got there before she closed for the holiday weekend. My vet took blood test an everything came back normal except it showed she was a little dehydrated. She then took an xray and said everything was okay except she had a enlarged heart. For her size it was really big. She said she didn't see any lesions or anything. But she suspected Liver shunt. She gave her fluid under her skin and has her on antibiotics. Mattie will have a Mri and ultrasound of her stomach to see if she does have liver shunt or a brain lesion.
I am beside myself..I have been crying all day. I feel so bad. So far just what they did today was $500.00. The test tuesday will be another $500.00. If she has liver shunt then surgery will be another 3 grand or more. So will have to wait till tuesday about the test and what comes of it. I am just devistated. My little girl may not make it. Just keep her in your prayers please, Thanks so much!

Oh, no. I am going to say a prayer for her right now.

My little Brooke was wobbly also and it came on suddenly. She had a normal blood panel and then she had an MRI which showed that she had GME, Granulomatous Meningioencephalitis, an inflammatory brain disease. It is a fairly rare disease but is being diagnosed more and more in toy dogs. If she doesn't have a liver shunt please check for this. If she has GME please PM me for the best doctor for GME, it could save Mattie's life like it did Brooke's. Good luck, I really hope it isn't either of these 2 diseases.

Brenda sweetheart I am so sorry to hear this, it just breaks my heart and I have been crying my eyes out, remembering when Boo-Boo was the same. He has liver shunt and they couldn't fix it with the surgery so he is now on a very strict diet, but he is doing well with no seisures for about 7 months. So even if Mattie has liver shunt she will be ok either with surgery or with a very strict diet with low protein.
I have spent more than 6 thousand pounds with Boo-Boo already but knowing he is ok now, it's the best money I could have ever spent.
I am keeping you and Mattie in my prayers and hope everything will be ok. Please have faith in God and she'll be ok. Please keep us posted on what is happening.

Boo-Boo said that his girlfriend Mattie will get better real soon(he knows that, as he will never let anything bad happen to her) He sends sweet doggy kisses and wishes her a very speedy recovery. I wuv yu Mattie yu are my gurfruend and I am not gona allow anthing bad hapen to yu.:love:

Brenda I am so sorry to hear this! I have tears in my eyes thinking of Little mattie. I know how worried you are, i am praying for her and hope everything comes back normal and if she does have something i hope it's something minor and not life threatening. Prayers for Mattie....

For what it's worth...Reese was mis diagnosed with an enlarged heart by a regular veterinarian viewed by an x ray. I took him to a cardiologist...he did NOT have an enlarged heart. The cardiologist explained that vets are given diagrams to compare heart sizes...in toy breeds...the hearts look larger because of the small chest cavity.

Update On Little Mattie
 

Hello Everyone,
I know everyone is waiting for results on Mattie, The ultrasound Specialist tried to get a reading on Mattie and she couldn't. From what she did do she said she didn't see LS. They are going to do an MRI of the brain. They think she might have a lesion on the brain. Or Encephalitis (sp) so that is tomorrow. She doesn't act like she is feeling bad just that she is real wobbly and her head is tilted. She shakes too. They also think she might had a stroke. so more test. I am so worried. I wish they would find what is wrong so we can treat it. She is still on antibiotics and Lactulose. So its a waiting game. She still plays and tries to run. She still won't eat much. I have to give her water with a syringe. So keep those prayers going. I need it! I will keep you all posted. THanks so much everyone!

OMG Brenda, I am so glad you updated us, I was heart broken. I really hope that soon they will find out what's wrong with her and be able to treat it. Keeping you and little Mattie in our prayers. Boo-Boo and Pheoebe send get well wishes too. Keep us posted!

Brenda, I sent you a PM. My baby, Brooke has GME, Granulomatous Meningioencephalitis, and had the same symptoms as your little Mattie. If it turns out that she has it please call me. She needs to be on prednisone right away, it is an anti-inflammatory and will stop the progression of her symptoms. An MRI and a spinal tap is needed to diagnose encephalitis. In the PM I gave you the info for a GME Yahoo group if you need more current info. The info on the internet for GME is usually doom and gloom and outdated. Take care of yourself and Mattie..
