He seems to be feeling better already!!! Thank you all so much!! I will let you know what the vet says tomorrow. I will also post pics tomorrow too!!! Thanks again!!! I have been so worried!! I feel so much better now! |

Glad to hear he's starting to feel better. My vet told me that the easiest way to tell if their blood sugar is low is to give them a little nutrical or kayro or whatever you use, and if they immediatly start to improve, you know it was a hypoglycemic episode. I don't know if you are already doing it or not, but you should think about letting him have constant access to food and water. When KaCee was that age, I'd even let her have a few pieces of food when we'd get up in the middle of the night to potty. |
Yes he does have access to his food all the time. The lady that we got him from told me to feed him purina puppy chow. Is there something else I should try? I was also told that it wasn't a good idea to change his diet, but he doesn't seem to like the food all that much!! He played for a while and just laid down beside me. He has also acted like he doesn't want to be held and that is what really worried me. He has been so affectionate and wanting attention and tonight I would pick him up and pet him he would crawl out of my lap to the other end of the couch and go to sleep. |

Hypoglycemic events can be very frightening. I'm so glad you found this site and posted. If he is 5 lbs already at 9 weeks, he shouldn't be hypoglycemic, should he? He has enough body weight to last him for awhile? Welcome and I hope Chewie feels better tomorrow. |
sounds like you will have a big boy on your hands. pepper was 5 lbs at 10 wks, now at 6 months she weighs in at 8lbs and 8 oz!!! Welcome to YT!!! cant wait to see pics |

I'm glad to hear he's at the vet's. Did you happen to take a stool sample? At that weight I doubt he had a hypoglemic episode. It's possible he has coccidea or guardia though. Puppies are more prone to suffer from these two illnesses and sometimes the stress of a new home contributes to their resistance. |
Poor little guy...let us know how he is. I had to do the same thing with Trixie when I brought her home. A little honey brought her right back. I also wormed her 3 time (2 weeks apart) and she did have them (all puppies do, I think). Yes, the stuck poop thing is also something to look out for. We had an emergency unplugging session when she seemed to be constipated. I trimmed the fur from her bum and that prevented it from happening again. Good luck with your little guy. Watch him closely. I think the stress of going to a new home may do this to them. |
