I am starting to think it is more than a bug bite 1 Attachment(s) I took Diddy to the vets last Monday because of a lump on his cheek/lip. The vet said it was probably just a bug bite and gave him a vetalog steroid shot and some Clavamox to take for 2 weeks. He got really sick off the Clavamox pills and spent almost 2 days throwing up. He is now on the liquid Clavamox and is doing much better. I looked at the lump today and it is no different. I don't think it hurts him because he lets me touch it and doesn't flinch. He does scratch at it every now and then. Below is a picture I took today. Has anyone ever seen a lump like this and know what it could be? I go back to the vet next week for them to look at it. I hope it isn't anything serious! I am so worried about him! |
bless his heart! I have no idea, but that would worry me too. |
i don't want to scare you, but romeo had bump like that near his nose. they treated it w/steriods and antibiotics. after a few weeks it didn't go away. they did a biopsy and it had cancer cells. they removed it and he's fine now. the doctor said they get these bumps from environmental stuff like pesticides in the grass. get a second opinion. |
awe poor baby.. I have not seen anything like that.. but I do hope you get some needed answers....anne |
I have not seen anything like that, did it look like that when you took him to the Vet? It does not look like the is a bite mark, if it looked like that I would get a second opinion, if t looked different I would insist the Vet see him Monday |

I am so scared that this is something bad:( The vet I saw was not my regular vet and I did not like him at all. I am making an appointment with my regular vet. |
Poor baby. I would definatley get a second opinion. Praying it is nothing serious |
Oh my, poor Diddy. :( I've never seen anything like that before. I'm glad it doesn't seem to bother him too much. Thinking good thoughts for Diddy & that it's nothing serious. |
o wow! I sure hope it turns out to be nothing...... good luck with your vet. d |
i would definitely take him back to the vet and have him do an aspirate to start with. the little mass should come off as well. it doesn't look like a bug bite to me. looks like a cyst or mass. |
Awww...his lip is still like that:( Poor Diddy. I hope he feels better. Has ur regular vet seen him? Please let us know how it goes. |

When I adopted Charlie last year, he had a growth on his side. While he was having dental surgery, the vet removed it and tested for cancer. No cancer, but glad it is gone. Also, as Sophie aged, she began to grow lumps on her head similar to your picture. They were also removed by surgery, non cancerous. Warmly, Deborah |
Did you call the vet? Were you able to get an appointment today? |
Weird!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: |
I would definately get a second opinion. Good luck. |
that doesn't look like a bug bite. i would get a second opinion from another vet, it looks more like some sort of cyst. please take him to another vet and get another opinion, it wouldnt hurt. :D |
Any News on Ditty? |
I talked to my regular vet today. I am to continue his anti biodics He goes back in to see her next Wednesday and then they will probably remove it. She said since he is only one yr old it shouldn't be anything too serious. He is playing and acting like his normal self. I will keep everyone updated when I know more. |
That's good to hear. Will keep good thoughts that it will go away on it's own. |

Hows diddy doing today |
so glad for you Diddy! Hope everything is all well when you go see the doc! d |
Update on Diddy I went to see a different vet today because this has been bothering me. They think it is a histiocytoma (I hope I spelled that right) and there is a 50/50 chance that it will go away by itself. It could be weeks or months. Since he is so young there is only a 1% chance that it is cancerous. Thank goodness! If it does not go away within 2 weeks or if it gets any bigger I am having it removed. I feel a little better about all this now but still worried about my little guy! |
poor lil guy! I hope it goes away on its own |
Glad you got a second opinion. Those are good odds and hope it goes away. |
Poor Diddy! Hope it goes away on its own and he does not have to have it removed. We are sending yorkie hugs to Diddy. |

Update on Diddy I took Diddy to the vet today for his recheck. Great news, the lump is starting to go away on its own! They said that is definitley a histiocytoma and I have nothing to worry about. I am sooooo relieved! Yay!:) Now I just have to deal with his allergies and his reverse sneezing and all will be well. |
