Gosh, Kristi...I just saw this thread! I will be praying for Stewie! Maddie is very upset to hear that Stewie is under the weather. How scary for you! *HUG* Has he had the bile acid test done yet? I'll be thinking of you both and praying it all turns out well! I've missed you, kiddo!

ok, so, I got the bile acid test results and he does NOT have a shunt!!! I am so happy - totally beyond words.

He does have really low phosphorus levels. I seriously never even knew that dogs needed phosphorus (maybe I am dumb/ignorant? I don't know).

So anyway, the vet suggested I feed him Royal Canin. Can you believe it? I started feeding him that when I first got it him, but I felt guilty because it's not the best food on the market and switched. So now I am going back to that. I'm also going to cut him back on his treat intake. He's a little addict.

I'm so glad to hear that Stewie doesn't have a liver shunt! Bless his sweet, little heart, and yours too! I hope he stays healthy and doesn't give you anymore scares!!!

That is such great news, Kristy. I'm so happy it wasn't a shunt. How ironic you had him on the food he now needs. Our dog is on a diet that is low in phosphorus because of bladder stones but she'd love to be on one that is higher. She does not like the food.
Thanks for the update. Give Stewie more hugs from me. We miss his little face. :)

I just saw a few other threads about this ... hope all ends well with your little one.... someone else has theyr 2 yorkies going into surgery to correct the same, i think it is the same... in case that there is something to be done about it is good to know right? Although surgery is something frightening....
I hope it turns out to be nothing like that !!!;)

I'm so very glad it wasn't Stewie's liver. I'm a little out of date here, but I wanted to tell you how happy I was to read that. I just dropped in to search for some info. I don't have as much time to visit here as I used to. I miss everyone. Kisses for Stewie.:)

Can't believe that I missed this thread! So glad the Stewie doesn't have shunt. Yeah, I know that RC isn't the best thing out there but if it's what he needs then do it.
