Not a very good bithday present... I never thought i'd have to say this. Morgan has MVD... On a hunch i did a BAT on her last friday. The results came back high. I just knew that they were going to be off. i felt it. The numbers aren't terribly high but high enough to suggest MVD. So on those results we did a U/S today. Thankfully the liver looked fine and there were no stones/crystals in her bladder. The internist did say that she does have some sludge in her gall bladder but nothing too bad. Morgan has now been switched to Canidae senior because it has less then 20% protein. She is not on any supplements yet because i'm not sure that she needs them right now. The vet says it should be controllable with diet right now. I did a CBC/Chem panel on her today too so we'll have a base line for her proteins, albumin, BUN and ALT (as well as everything else). I'm happy its not as bad as i first feared. Morgan never showed any signs of having problems but i just had this feeling, you know? On another note....As i was holding Morgan on her back in the trough for the U/S i felt her knees popping a lot. So when i got back upstairs i had my doc, the orthopedic surgeon, check out her knees. He said her LPs have progressed from 1 to 3 . But again, luckily she is showing no signs so i'm not going to do anything about it yet besides her joint supplements. Morgan's 2nd birthday is next tuesday. This is not a good birthday present for her. She's quite upset at all the things that have been done to her in the past few days. she's been stuck with a bunch of needles, had her belly shaved, gelled and probed, and had her knees popped in and out. She was so scared at work today and shook the entire way down to the U/S room. i felt horrible. my poor baby. she is now passed out on the couch behind me making little noises in her sleep. its so sad :( |
Oh Kellie Im so sorry :( I remember when you said you tried the evo on her she didnt do so well and got lethargic.. This explains it If you need anything Im here |

Funny thing is, when she was on the raw diet she did fabulous. Raw meat is easier to process then high protein kibble. however i don't want to risk it again so she's not getting any more raw. Only low protein food from now on. Thanks Chrissy! (ps did you see this thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=123554 ? if your wanna come up for this it would be so much fun!) |
Oh no:( It is just too common in Yorkies... On another note, gall bladder sludge can make the BA go up. Have you thought about trying Actigall? It probably is the liver though if she was lethargic on Evo. |

Right now i'm going to try the diet first and then do another CBC/Chem in three months to see how things are going. we briefly discussed SAMe and milk thistle. The internist said it wasn't necessary but the surgeon said it couldn't hurt if i did give it to her. I think i may just do the food first and see what her blood results say in a few months. |

So sorry that she has had to suffer all that stuff for her birthday. |
So sorry to hear Morgan's B-day present isn't so nice, but the good news is that you manage her MVD condition through diet. You are a Good Mommy and she LOVES you very much, she says Thank You Mommy for taking such good care of me :p |
I am so sorry.....i am thankful you found it so early and she will be well cared for and hopefully symptom free from now on!!! Kiss her for me please. :D |
