Help needed please Mango was spayed yesterday. Here is the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...77#post1890777 I am VERY worried about her because today, she is throwing up continually. Has anyone else seen this after a routine surgical procedure such as this??? I am just so very scared for her right now. I have called the Vet, am waiting now for Hubby to come home and we are taking her back there. I don't want to drive myself, in case she starts again on the way. This morning she had her pain meds and antibiotic. I am now wondering if there could possibly be a connection... if either one of them could be causing this. Any advice or recommendations would be so appreciated. I have never seen her like this and it's scaring me. She is normally a total "lunatic" still doing zoomies constantly, even though she is now 16 months old. At our meetups, my little girl is known as "demented" Mango because of her hilarious antics, so to see her this way is just tearing my heart out. Help! Lauren:( Edit: I have been giving her an ice cube to lick while we are waiting, just to be sure she is getting some fluids |
list her meds on here, if you can- maybe someone knows about them!! |
I would risk it and get back to the vet. If she starts to vomit in the car you can always pull over...and I would call ahead and tell them you are coming. Please let us know how she's doing. |
I hope all goes well with Mango. It's so scary when they're ill. I'll be checking in a little later for updates Praying for your baby! |
Lauren Hun I hope you can get her to the Vet. It may not be to bad but it is better safe than sorry. When Pixie was sick last firday she threw up like 5 times in a hour and became really dehydrated. (((HUG))) hun ... |
The anesthesia can make them nauseous, so eating can be not-so-fun for a day. If she's thrown up more than maybe twice, I would go now. I don't think it should wait.:( It might be the pain meds though. |
Hope she is ok. Maybe the meds are making her sick. |
Checking in on Mango.....hope she is doing better. Sending Prayers for her! |
Checking on Mango and glad you took her to the vet. Warmly, Deborah |
Hope all is well for Mango!! Hopefully it is just the meds. I was told when Nolee was neutered, not to be surprised if he did throw up a little, especially if he ate or drank that day. Your in our thoughts and prayers!:lovewings |
Oh you guys are so great for responding! We just got back from the Vet. He has given her an anti-nausea medication to be given to her half hour before the antibiotic. He said to not give her pain medication tonight and see how she goes. I still cannot believe that she could throw up THAT much and not hurt herself, but she does not indicate that she is in pain. I did keep giving her the ice cubes throughout the day, and I think that kept her hydrated okay. The Vet checked her gums, and says the color is fine for now, but he told me to bring her back tomorrow if the new medication does not stop this constant throwing up. He said to give her a small amount to eat if she wants it, but I am scared to start this whole cycle all over again. She was projectile vomiting this afternoon, and I would think her little tummy must be so irritated. The only food she will eat so far is Evanger's Cooked Chicken. Mango is a finnicky eater at best, so I always have it on hand to mix with her kibble. The latter she will not touch at all. Like all of you here are with yours, this baby is just beyond precious to me. I am just so frustrated that I cannot seem to alleviate her suffering. Thank you all so much, again. Lauren |
Thanks for the update, I was getting worried I will be sending prayers. |
Hoping she continues to get better. Most likely her tummy was somewhat empty and then given the pain meds and antibiotics it might have upset her tummy. Puppy kisses to mango. |
Hope Mango will do better tonight. Don't forget about baby food or rice for her little tummy. Please keep us posted. Prayers for you all :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
I'm glad you went to the Vet just to be on the safe side. Hopefully, tomorrow will be much better. I don't think she should need any more pain meds. I really think they are the culprit in this case. Neither of mine had any pain meds at all and they did fine without it. Feel better tomorrow morning, Mango!! |

I have just given her the anti-nausea medication and am waiting to see if it works. I am worried for tonight, that she could throw up in her sleep.:(:(:( Edit: if she is no better in the morning, I won't wait again. I don't care is I drive the Vet nuts. I need to know my baby is going to be okay; nothing else really matters right now. |
How is Mango this morning? |
I'm praying for Mango.. I hope that she is ok this morning |
Mango is still throwing up this morning, so now I am thinking it's caused by the antibiotic. I spoke to the Vet again, and he's told me to give her a little yogurt to try and restore the "good bacteria" in her stomach. She's eaten so little since Monday, and whatever she eats (Evanger's Cooked Chicken), does not stay inside her for very long. I would so appreciate any ideas,:hands: Lauren |

Ellie didn't have them at all after her spay. Plain yogurt is a good idea and maybe some banana. Have you tried pulling food altogether for at least 12 hours and giving her PediaLyte? |

I just want her healed and well again. Lauren |

stonyfield recall stony field had a recall on their yogurt, but I think it was just on the blueberry cup, here the link http://www.stonyfield.com/Aboutus/Mo....cfm?pr_id=166 |
I'm so sorry to hear that Mango is having problems after her spay. Neither of my girls were put on an antibiotic after their surgery...just pain pills. I will pray that Mango is quickly feeling good again. Poor baby, and poor you. *HUG* |

When will the recalls end? |
How about Yoplait Baby Yogurt? Or is this not good because it is full fat?? I remember giving her yogurt last year when her appetite was not good. She loved it. Problem is I cannot remember which one it was. I guess the regular Dannon you find in the supermarkets is not good? Also, she loves the tast of blueberries. What about blueberry yogurt??? Thanks again SO much for the help.:D Lauren Edit: full-fat/non-fat/low-fat??? Which would be better for her? |

The regular Dannon isn't going to hurt her but it might not help her stomach either. Maybe the Activa? Blueberry is fine (no artificial sweeteners though) but it is so sugary. That is why I say plain. If she can't hold anything down though and you can't find plain in a good brand, sugary yogurt is better than nothing at all.:) |

I think recalls are going to be a part of our life from now on. |
Lauren, my dear friend, I am saddened to see another thread about poor Mango. I was hoping she would be all better. We had ANOTHER BLACK OUT FOR HOURS TODAY, SO NO INTERNET:( All I can do is send warm thoughts and prayers for little Mango. I do hope she is better soon. Hugs, Sheilagh:hug: |
I bought an organic yogurt in Whole Foods, not that I shop there normally. I went just for the yogurt but can\'t remember the name. My vet says organic yogurt is better. I hope Mango feels better. Mine never had antibiotics after spaying either. Jessica |
