Lily had both legs done and when all was said and done it was 3,200 and worth every penny. |
Codie had both knees done. They were $1,500 per knee and that included the x-rays and blood work. It does not include physical therapy after the procedure is over. The best money I ever spent. Codie is like a new pup again. :D His knees are solid and TIGHT and I couldn't be happier. My vet is truly fabulous. :thumbup: |
What are the symptoms, at what age does it usually prevail itself? I am so nervous now!! |
Lily would limp every once in a while, hold one leg up, skip when running and just before her surgery she would whimper sometimes when she would get up in the morning. |

WOW!!! Costly there... We have a vet in western Maryland, who says that it's only a couple minute job and a few stitches... He charges $300.00 per leg... Our Miss Bittles is there now... |

Well your lucky there! My Lucy had grade 4 LP and besides deepening the groove in her knee, they had to move muscles and tendons by cutting off chunks of bone and pinning them on in different places. I think I have read that some dogs have to have the bone broken and put back together because it is so crooked. Lucy's wasn't that crooked. Lucy was born with grade 4. She didn't walk very well when I got her at 8 weeks. |

I spoke to him about this again today and he indicated that it was, in about 90% of the cases, just a matter of deepening the groove and closing it up... From other folks in the area and their feedback, I believe him... My surprise today was that she is still early stage 2 in the left and stage 1 in the right... No recommended treatment other than Synovi G3 suppliment and Rimadyl for the pain...After xrays today, he diagnosed her as arthritic.... Maybe worse than a simple operation, since it has progressed to her hips also... I'm bummed... |

Remember, we live in a depressed area, where the average income is about a third of the average California income... Mostly farmers, miners and retirees... The large animal hospital in the area charges more but still much less than the figures in this post... As I said in my last post, the LP is not what's causing her problem... It's arthritis... I guess all the years of NuPro silver have helped... |
Conner has to have LP surgery after his liver straightenes out. The vet quoted $700 for one leg. This includes bloodwork but not meds and physical therapy (which the physical therapist does right in the vet's office). Conner will probably be scheduled this summer. His last appointment was canceled because when they did the blood work, his numbers were a little high. The vet would not do the surgery until his numbes are within range. He is now on meds and special food and doing very well. |
I just got the info 3200 Tede needs both knees done. I also wount let them squirt meds in his mouth. so it going to be more. i had trouble after he came back last time. getting him to take meds. so im willing to pay more.but WHAT....15 min ...not what i learned |
