| Stools in every color of the rainbow?! I have had Itsy for a little over a week now, and a day or two after I got her she started having some diarrhea. It was the usual light brown color so I figured her stomach was just upset from all the stress of a new home/food change so I didn't worry, then she passed a dark (almost black) stool so I took her to the vet. They examined the sample and couldn't find any worms or anything else wrong, but they gave me two medicines to give her anyway and sent me on my way. The diarrhea seems to be better one day, then back again...and her stools keep changing colors...light brown, very dark brown, greenish...I just don't get it. She is acting perfectly fine otherwise, eating, drinking and playing. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just a puppy thing?? I don't get it. She is 9 weeks old and has had several wormings and her first round of shots. |

| Welcme to YT and Congrats on your new little girl . My two have had changes in color and consistancy but not close together. Their's has been related to something they ate. Hopefully it's just the stress of change that is causing this for Itsy.

| It really sounds like coccidia to me. Sometimes coccidia is hard to find in a stool sample. You might want to get her stool checked again. What are you feeding her? It could possible be diet. |

| She was given medication for coccidia "just in case", which she still has probably 4 days or so left to go on that med. She was also given Flagyl (for the diarrhea I think?) which I think today is her last day taking that. But the diarrhea isn't going away. She was eating Purina Puppy Chow and Cesar's canned food at the breeder's. When I first got her I started feeding her Cesar's and Science Diet, but when the diarrhea started I got the Purina and have been since feeding her mostly Purina with a little Science Diet, and Cesar's once a day (she eats the dry food a little but I'm afraid she's not eating enough since she sort of seems to pick at it, which is why I still give her the Cesar's). |

| I thought Science Diet was supposed to be "the best"?! I will definitely try different food, I think you're right, I don't know what else it could be. Are the foods you suggested (canidae and chicken soup) available at Petsmart or Feeder's Supply? |

Here a good thread on YT where people talked about the different dog foods. I also recommend Solid Gold Wee Bits puppy food. http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122880 Good luck in your search. | |
