| My Lily Is Having Stomach Surgery Hello All- I am new to this and can really use some good positive words. My Lily is 1 year old. She started vomiting on Thursday and all the way till today (blood) sunday and today. The vet has been working with me doing IV liguids XRAYS shows nothing and blood work is normal. Today they took a Ultra sound and it showed up that there was some form of shadow in her intestines and they want to go in a explore surgery tomorrow 1st thing. They would have done surgery today but she was so dehydrated and wanted to wait till tomorrow. I am sooo scared and upset. This is my 2nd yorkie. We had to put our 1st one down a year ago. She was 16! Lily is such a spit fire. She is always into something. I am so beside my self. I dont know what to expect. They are concerned of the surgery of her body temperture. Please if someone can tell me what to expect and any advice.. Thanks so much in advance- Cathy

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor baby. I had to have surgery on Cali when shes was 8 months old for a possible intestinal blockage and she was in heat and needed a liver biopsy. I had it done by a board certified surgeon not my regulat vet. They were going to pull her retained baby teeth but they were having trouble keeping her temperature up so they brought her to. If you can I would highly recommend having it done by a surgeon at a 24 hour facility. Cali was kept for over 36 hours for monitoring but was fine after a few days of resting. They did not find a blockage but she was spayed and liver biopsy she needed done. I will keep Lily in my prayers. Please keep us posted

| Well I wish Lilly the best. I know my husbands dog had stomach surgery they thought he had ate a tshirt or sock. He was having diarrehea and vomiting and then finally bloody stools and bleeding excessive. My husband took him in and they said they needed to do surgery or he would die. My husband of course told them to do it and they called us after it was over. He had nothing in there and they seen no reason for this. My husband went the next day to see him and they sent him home for us to care for as he wouldn't leave the IV in and wanted my husband. So we had to keep this dog down that is large he is a wienriemer and had to do all the instructions. I was so nervous with it being so soon and they were to have kept him like 2 days or more. We had to go in and have him weighed 2 x's a wk or more and they watched him closeley. Nothing has been wrong with him since. They even called and talked to the university about this dog and no one has an ideal about him. Now when my husband left for Iraq he got diarrehea for a few days and then it was over. He has anxiety he does like to be next to us. However I have changed his food. He gets no raw hides. I only give one certain kind of dog biscuits. And at Christmas time I thought I would buy him a large bone and give to him smoked.......what a mistake he started up again. So now I have to mark that off the list of can have's. He has a very sensative stomach and I buy him very organic food he gets along find now and he weights 80 lbs and really healthy. I hope your little one gets to be find as well and there are somethings doctors just can't answer and yet its like a small miracle and they are fine. I will think of you and hope to hear from you soon with an update.

| I'm so sorry. The vet can minimize the chance of body temperature drop by doing the surgery on a heated surfact or using warm air blankets. Yorkies should never have surgery with a heat source.
