Most likely yes.
Ellie's ultrasound showed an inflamed pancreas (pancreatitis). She had thrown up quite a bit a week before, so that must have been it. However, it is only a guess that that was her first pancreas problem. It most likely was but could've started long before then.

This is why liver diseased dogs have to eat low protein diets because the ammonia will build up in their bodies and they will start circling, staggering and acting weird. I just find it hard to believe Rainbow could have liver disease but is is possible she could have the early stages of it. I just hope and pray that the tests were just wrong. We will be praying for good results.

I guess I am with you. Dang! my eyes hurt from reading so much, but she has never shown the classic symptoms and she is 11 months old now and everything I have read indicates that it should be showing itself before around 6 months old and the SYMPTOMS themselves are generally the indicators, NOT the tests. Meaning that usually the dog is taken to the vet with symptoms and then the tests confirm the damage. I almost am sorry I read so much because I am finding myself questioning things that before today seemed perfectly normal to me.

First.. what she DOESN'T show in symptoms
no stumbling, twirling, nuerelogical signs at all
no hypoglycemic like issues
no vomitting or excess urination
no head pressing
no swollen stomach
no siesures

second, things that seemed normal to me but now I am second guessing myself
she is thin (she weighs 4 lbs 4 oz, yet she is taller/longer/than her mom who weighs 5 lbs) I thought she is still young and would be filling out more in the next year
she is quiet (not a cuddler/kisser) now I have read that this could be interpreted as lethargic... I just thought it was an endearing part of her personality.. I mean she can run and bark and race with the best of them.. in fact she is usually the first to go racing outback at every sound she hears
Now since I read about some of the signs.. I am questioning everything she does... when I hold her, don't EVEN try to give her a kiss because she will turn her head and try to get away.. Now I am thinking, "is this "headpressing"

Last symptoms.. MOM IS GOING CRAZY.. lol

I am having a hard time with this because she is so perfect.. She came from good lines that at least on Mom's side I know she hasn't had any LS problems.. I cannot get ahold of the dad's breeder as she moved out of state and I don't think she is still breeding.. but HE is as healthy as a horse and her(Rainbow's brother) brother Beamer is as well

Sonya, please don't let this get too you. Rainbows turning her head, not wanting to give kisses is not head pressing....she is just being a typical little stinker (I have some that do that). Whatever her problem is, if there really is a problem, I am sure she will be alright. We will all be here to support you and help you all that we can. Try to get some rest tonight and think positive thoughts! Rainbow will be just fine!

It is very likely not a shunt or MVD.

Dogs with MVD are often asymptomatic and it is caught during an optional BAT.
Not all dogs with shunt or MVD will have neurologic symptoms.

The skinniness and being a bit quiet would concern me. The turning the head away to avoid a kiss isn't head pressing.

I guess I shouldn't say she is "quiet" actually we nicknamed her yappy doodle! By quiet I mean she sometimes seems kind of shy.. I guess I don't know how to describe it.. she LOVES people and is the first of all of mine to run up to a total stranger (usually barking until she gets within about 3 feet) then she sort of wiggles up to them like she is shy.. and if you show her attention, she wants nothing to do with you.. she will walk away.... until you aren't looking... then she is right back..

BUT she does feel skinny to me.. I can feel every rib and her hip bones.. I did ask the vet about it even before the blood test

Yea.. I need to get a life huh? lol.. Whatever it is.. its is.. I just hope it isn't whatever it is...

The shyness could be a personally trait and you don't need to get a life. I did the same thing when I got Ellie's results.

I just saw this and will say a prayer for your little sweetie. Sending hugs to you and I hope all turns out well. I remember worrying about Maddie when she was young...and I was so scared she had liver shunt, but she turned out fine. I'll be checking back for updates! Best wishes!

lacey never showed any signs until she went into heat at 9 months the all i really noticed was her sleeping aolt and when she would sit sometimes her head would wobble like she was tired. then she started to shake but we just thought she was cold. then the weight loss. i just said oh its because she is in heat but by the 2nd week i wasnt sure so i took her on a sunday and they did that bat and said it was her liver. it wasnt anything really big that we seen but when i put all 3 together it worried me. that day is when the vet told me how they can go into depression (explained her sleeping more and eating less) and head wobbling and shaking ( neuro signs). really if she werent in heat i think i would have written most of her signs off as her just getting older and settling down.

as I was reading this I thought of ME! not making light of it.. I just woke up from a MUCH needed sleep. Between being sick for the last 4 days and this with Rainbow on top of it, I was exhausted... so all of the symptoms above as exactly like ME this morning... EXCEPT the weight loss... So needless to say, after Rainbow came home from her BAT test today, I layed down and ended up sleeping all day long! I cannot wait to get the results either Monday or Tuesday
