I'm so sorry your puppy got hurt. I know how sad it is when they get hurt. Sebastian broke his back leg when he was 5 months old. We had to go see a surgeon because he chipped a piece off of his knee near the joint. Luckily we avoided surgery and it healed on it's own in about 5 weeks. We had to be careful and keep his activity level low and make sure he didn't make anymore crazy jumps while he was healing, which was not easy. It is amazing how fast these little ones can mend though! I hope you can avoid surgery and your puppy feels better soon! |
Well Maci is back from our regular vet, and it's mainly good news! The splint that the ER Vet put on seems to be doing its job well in keeping the broken bone in line. The vet said that if we continue on this path that surgery most likely will not be needed! Maci will go back to the vet every week for awhile to ensure that everything is still looking good. She'll get her new splint put on every 2wks to make sure that it's clean, dry, and in the right place. Maci is feeling a little bit better each day, and is starting to figure out how to move on three legs...but still is a little timid. She did eat and drink a little bit yesterday, and did finally go potty outside! Again...thank you so much for all your comments, thoughts, and prayers! It great to have such a good support team! |
