This is posted in another thread but I am really concerned so if you see either post and have some advise please help us

I have a 5 month yorkie-poo and she is great but her stool is not right. At first her stool was normal and we changed her food slowly and her stool was fine. Now for the last two days her stool has been runny and some red spots. My daughter had the flu could the dog have caught it? Also is this ok should I change the food again she is on solid gold. When we bought her she was eating diamond.
Well I am concerned I havent had this happen before how long is two long for this problem?

How old is your daughter? could she of given she something you didn't know about??

My daughter is 6 and lots of kids in her class were sick this week. I thought maybe the dog could have gotten the flu from her?

I would definitely take the dog to the vet. The red you are seeing in her poo is probably blood and could be a gastro inflamation. Toto had this once and within a day was dehydrated. Please keep us updated.

It possible your puppy just has a bacterial infection or a irritated bowel. Have you given you puppy anything different like treats or chews. She also could have ate on something she should not have, like if you let her outside they can pickup something without you knowing it. When any of mine every get icky poop I alway give them a teaspoon of canned pumpkin and I also aways keep a product on hand called diarrhsol (not sure of the spelling) that I get from Revival Animal Health. Bloody and runny diarrhea can be very serious and I recommend that you always take your dog to the vet as soon as possible.

Please take your puppy to the vet! We just had a nasty case of gastroenteritis (sp?)(diahrea w/ blood due to an infection in the intestine from his getting into something gross) you can read my recent thread titled "Ranger's sick" He got dehydrated within one and a half days and had to spend three days at the hospital on IV fluids. Take her in, it will save you in the long run as well as save your puppy the pain and stress of being in the hospital!

Oh no. I will look into this tomorrow in the morning I am at work now and it is about 4am. yesterday it seemed her bowel had hardend a little. She did receive a different dog treat on Sunday last week from a friend. it was a beggin bacon strip I dont buy them but we were at there house and she just started feeding it to her. I really dont like for people to feed my dogs anything I am picky like that. If her bowl is still runny when I get home in a few hours I will take her to the vet when they open at 10am

thanks everyone. i have only had my dog a few weeks but she is already part of the family I love her so much and the kids would just be crushed if something happened to CoCo

I know my vets are good at letting me bring in a stool sample and get me results in 2 hours. It only costs 20.00. Unless I think they are really in need of being seen then I bring them in.

beggin' bacon strip? Isn't that something you pick up at WalMart? Isn't it a pretty large treat? I even chop small treats up into tiny pieces. I'm always afraid of upsetting their tummies. My dh is my problem. I've finally convinced him to quit feeding them by explaining the costs of feeding junk. (i.e. over-weight: hard on joints, fatty foods: pancreatitis, etc.)

Not sure where she got the beggin bacon strips but I would never feed them. I get my dogs food at the feed store by my house. Canidae or solid gold.

coco went to the vet and my lab tico. Both were fine. Vet said the solid gold is to rich for coco. when I got coco she was on diamond. I have switched here to the canidae and her stool is getting better. coco also received another round of shots and a stool test. Tico got one too.

I spent 100 bucks twice this month at the vet it is ok because I want them to be heathly but I want to look into some good petinsurance for these situations.
