Head Trauma How long does it take for signs of an injury if your dog hits his head pretty hard enough to bow and scream in pain? Bandit just fell out of my arms as I was holding both of them trying to get them out of the reach of a car that has NO business in this area I was playing with them in. So I grabbed up bandit and then rushed for bijou. In doing so, bandit fell out my arms and hit his head pretty hard, and then began to scream in pain, I was trrified to realize what just happened. I scooped him up and started to rub his head and and comfort him. He seems fine now, but I wonder if an injury can appear later on from this blunt fall? I was terrified when he bowed down and started to scream in pain. By the time I got inside and deposited Bijou to his crate Bandit seemed fine again. I just now stopped holding him and comforting him. He is now eating a piggy ears. I wonder if this did and damage that is not appearing right now? first time this has happened. And first time I ever saw him in such pain. He fell on concrete by the way. At the moment he seems himself again. I am not sure if I should rush him to the vet or not, seeing he is acting normal again  Just want to know if injuries can appear later on like tonight:confused: |
He needs a neurological exam. |

Even if he is acting normal now? Or should I wait for clinical signs? He didnt pass out, he was just screaming in pain and bowing down. He is running about normal now but I am watching his every move, this just happened about 30 minutes ago |
He needs vet attention asap. |
I agree not trying to scare you but better be safe than sorry NEURO EXAM please... It could be internal and hunny you would not see the signs untill it was too late... Sending Prayers for Scooby and you ! |
If a child fell out of yours arms, hit their head and started screaming they would need medical attention... |

oh my!! I am so sorry.. I hope he's ok.. what did the doctor say? |
wow how scarry! let us know what the vet says. |
Checking for updates.. |
Honestly ... if he's acting 100% normal now, I'd personally leave the situation be. If a human child falls, yes we take them in ... but they would do an MRI or CatScan and most vets cannot do this. They would do a quick neuro exam to make sure systems are functioning as expected and send you home with instructions to keep an eye out for any changes. When Mogli was a little baby (maybe 4-5 months old), he got clocked in the head with a nylabone. He yelped in pain and the area around his eye got swollen. I was freaking out, but the vet said to keep an eye on it. I wasn't there when it happend, so I was even more freaked out. We kept an eye on it and he was AOK. |
After what i have just been through i would not wait a second i would take him in right away what if he has a concusion what if there is swelling i am sorry i just would not take a chance i am sending prayers out for you and yor baby Bandit |
