Gracie got her casts off today!

My sweet darling got her casts off today. They removed the staples and she did not fight them one bit, so no sedation needed. She got a gold star, literally, for the visit! She still has to stay quiet for the next 2-3 weeks, then gradually return to normal activities. Thank you all so much for helping us get through this very difficult couple of weeks.

oh sweet girl... you have little chicken legs :) but we are SO happy your casts are off... you look SO much happier :)

Yeah!! I'm so glad the casts are off already!
Sounds like she was a good girl at the vets today :)
She looks so sweet in that last pictures :)

I hope her healing process goes by fast for both of you so she can
just be Gracie once again.

Yay!!....... Gracie, you DO look much happier with those casts off!! So glad that it went well today! Your story has been such a Godsend to us...... and yes, we, too, had our Othopedic Vet/surgeon appt today. Shelby will be having surgery in 15 days. She will be having Both legs done, just like you!!! The vet was really nice and took lots of time with us. Definitely wanted us to know everything about her situation and what to expect. It is very scary, but it is something that shouldn't be ignored.
Your "Mommy" is a great example of a caring owner.
Keep us posted on your continuing recovery!!!

We are so glad you got your casts off. It probably feels good to have them off. It seems like it went by quick, but probably not to your Mommy. You look like you are doing great! Hugs from Chloe and Zoey!!

Please post the surgery date. I will be watching Shelby's recovery closely. I am here for you! If I had it to do over again, I would do both legs at once. After living through this experience, had it just been the one leg, I don't think I could have allowed Gracie to go through another surgery with another recovery period.

Her legs look great! Gracie looks happy to have those cast off ! I'm glad she is doing well... Is it hard to keep her from doing activities?

It has been hard to keep her quiet for the last few days. I let her play with Holly on the couch, watching ever so closely and when they get too crazy I make them stop. She so wants to go running around. Like everyone said, the next two weeks will be the hardest for this very reason.

Aw, her little legs look really good! Hardly any bruising that i can see :thumbup: Now your in for the really hard part, LOL, trying to keep her quiet. Good luck!

Oh Gracie, so happy you got your legs back!!! Just in time for spring to come and you'll be ready to run all over the place.
Your legs look a little itchy, is mommy having to keep you from licking and chewing at them.

So thankful she's on the road to recovery!!!

Ahhhh, Gracie, your little legs look great!! Congratulations on your brand new legs ... you'll be flying all over the place before you know it! And, you will be able to run and play without being in pain!! God bless you, sweet baby.

Gracie ate really well today, both at lunch at at dinner. She is sleeping now. Funny, she can bend her knees now if she wants to but rarely does so, I think they still hurt her or maybe they are stiff. She is definitely far from 100% function wise. I have some cream to put on her irritated skin. Poor little baby girl. I don't think humans were intended to see naked Yorkie butts and legs, cute as they are! It still breaks my heart. Her incisions have healed really well, you can hardly tell where they were.

I keep forgetting to ask....did they send you home with any physical therapy instructions? Range of motion, duration of walks?
