Going to the vet...something isn't right. We are taking Xavier to the vet tonight. His rash around his privates was originally the reason, but now his stools are soft and seems to maybe be bleeding when he poos/pees. Also, he's been a lot more aggressive the past few days...his "nibbling" actually is hurting! Are these any signs for anything specific? Does anyone know of any questions I should plan on asking the vet?  This worries me even more because of the whole CKC registration thing. Hopefully I'm just over-reacting...Hopefully. :scratchhe Thanks in advance for any of your help! |
I hope your baby will be okay. The "nibbling" is probably just a puppy thing he is going through. How old is he now? Just make sure the vet does a stool sample. What food is he on? When were his last vaccinations? The rash may just be a allergic reaction to something but the blood is what I would really be worried about. Please keep us posted. |
He's 3 months tomorrow. He's had 4 sets of vaccinations, the last set was on Jan 22nd. He's on Merrick's Puppy Plate, kibble mostly, but sometimes kibble & canned mixed together. He's done great with Merrick, but who knows, maybe the food isn't right for him? Stool sample will most definitely be done! Thanks :) |
prayers that your baby is okay and nothing serious.please keep us posted. |
Praying that your little one is alright. |

I am curious about the vaccinations. Do you know at what age he started his shots and was he given multiple shots at one time or single shots. I start mine on their shots at 10 weeks, distemper and parvo only, and the second set at around 14 weeks. So mine just get 2 sets of shots. I was curious as to what shots your vet gives and how he does it. Over vaccination can effect the immune system and sometimes the problems will not show up until weeks or months later. I hope your baby will be o.k. Please let us know what the vet says. |
He's had 3 Distemper-Hepatitis shots, 4 Parvo shots, 3 Parainfluenza shots, 1 Leptospirosis shot so far. He had his 1st Parvo shot at 4 weeks; at 6 & 9 weeks he had Distemper, Parvo & Parainfluenza; at 11.5 weeks he had Distemper,Parvo, Lepto, & Parainfluenza. (According to his record from the vet in MS.)Thats all I know so far; his "breeder" is the one who started his shot schedule... I'm thinking she wasn't the greatest. I'll update after we get to the vet. |

There was a drop of blood the other day after she pooped, but just one tiny drop and not since. I was wondering if it is that food and I need something easier on her tummy. |

She was fine on the bil-jac, I am really thinking it could be the merricks. I may have to switch back for her. Right now its half of each. |

I just hope he's ok. I love him so much and cannot imagine if something bad happened to him. I'll be praying...he'll be okay, we'll get this all taken care of. |

i am no pro at all but i thought this very exact same thing... please keep us posted im praying for your baby!!! |
Its okay :) Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for your prayers & encouragement! The vet was wonderful! His rash turns out to be just a simple puppy rash that will go away on its own. :) The loose stool is most likely from the canned food, and since his stools were loose that most likely caused the bleeding. I didn't take a stool sample...:thumbdown ! But we're going back at the beginning of March for his last puppy shot, and I'll take one then. If we have anymore issues with the bleeding though we will be going straight to her with a sample. The vet said she thinks the shots he had were fine and that he is perfectly healthy:) :) :) :) !! Thank God! |
Oh good, so glad to hear it!~ |
  I bet the loose stool and gas is from the Merrick. I was thinking of trying it, but everyone on another forum said they had the same problem you are having - gas and a loose stool. |

He's just getting his Rabies shot in March. That's awful that they gave him a shot he wasn't supposed to have:thumbdown! I think he's doing okay, I'll try to find some articles on side effects of Lepto in Yorkies and see if any of them apply to him...or if I can do anything to help him. Thanks for telling me; I can assure you, he'll never get one again! |
PLEASE don't let him get another Lepto shot, unless it's very prevelant in your area. It can have such horrible side effects, my hubby is a vet and wont give any of our dogs Lepto, well, we don't vaccinate once a year either (aside from rabies) but please, no more lepto!! And from my recent experience, take him to the vet asap if he gets diarrhea, they get dehydrated so quickly. Hope your little baby feels better soon, it's so sad to have a sick puppy. |

Thank you for asking, I was wondering the same thing:confused: . I didn't want to ask though... |

It should only be given where the dog is at extreme risk and even then it is a hard choice. I think this is the vaccine that sent Ellie into shock.:( :( :( I could've lost her. |
OMG! That is HORRIBLE!!!!! He got it on Jan 22nd...do you think he's okay? Its been a while, and he seems fine... Or would it show up later? |

The risk of reaction for the lepto vaccine increases each time you give it and I would never consider giving it before 16 weeks (some people say 9). Ellie was 5 years old and this was her first (and only) lepto vaccine. Corona vaccine isn't necessary. I would try to get out of that one if they are giving it... |
He was only 11 weeks! Ugh! He will NEVER get one again! Thank you guys for telling me Lepto was so awful...I would have never known! Corona also will not be given if it too is harmful. |
