Dandruff after grooming? I took my puppy in for his first grooming. Everything was great, but I am now noticing all these little flakes on his fur! It looks like white sand on his fur! Could this be from the groomer? What can I do!?!?! Its all over and he was not like that prior to! |
Maybe they did not rince the shampoo out properly.. I am not sure what to say.. poor baby.. Are you sure it is dandruff.. I just read a thread on dog lice.. had never heard of this before... pooh's mum |
When I first got Pixie, she was 13 months old and I took her to the vet and I looked down when the vet was starting to check he out and it looked like she was in a snowstorm there were so many white flakes on her. The vet saw my expression and said are you wondering what that is and I said yes it wasn't there before, she said it is nervous dander. To this day when I bathe Pixie while I blow dry her she is throwing all this white dander and I have to comb it all out when she is dry. Sounds like that could be what happened. It never happened with any of my other dogs |
Could be that the shampoo they used was too harsh. I had a pup that had dander/dry skin flakes. I got some Oatmeal shampoo from the vet. Used it twice and no more dander. First, though, I'd try switching groomers and see if that helps. |
I had mickey and bella groomed on monday and they too have white flakes. intresting to find out what the problem is. |
I was told growing up not to use anyones comb or brush because the dander can be passed from one person to another. I don't know. If it can, then maybe the groomer doesn't dip the comb and brush in alcohol before going on to another dog? Guessing here. |
