Awww, thank you so much for asking :) I was just going to do an update on her. So far, she seems to be totally fine...but umm...we all just got up around here LOL  Hubby and I stayed up late watching movies :p So anyhow, I am going to see how she feels once she starts walking around the house some (hubby is outside with her right now while she goes potty). I am about to go out there too and check on her myself, to see if she is walking around out there, or just plopped down in the grass. I really think she is ok today though....but I will do another update later :)

Canned Pumpkin

Charlie had a visit to the vet yesterday, and she was not keen on the idea of me giving him Pepto. He also hates it, and pumpkin may help since it adds bulk and soothes the tummy from all of the acidity. Warmly, Deborah

Oh my gosh, every hour on the hour for 12 hours....you poor thing!! I can't imagine that...throwing up is the WORST, but the good thing is that after you do it your stomach feels sooo much better.

I agree though, Pepto does make me want to throw up at first, lol...that taste  But usually it will help me not to feel so nauseous afterwards, so I TRY and handle it if I can even though I hate the stuff. My husband refuses to even take it though - the smell alone he can't tolerate lol.

Tatum is doing MUCH better today. She is eating and is up running around playing acting like her goofy little self :p I haven't heard her little tummy make the gurgling sound at all today, and we were outside with her for a while and she never ate any grass - so I think she is just fine :) She never threw up though, thank goodness....just an upset tummy I think which I have NO idea what caused that  Could of been anything really I guess, but I'm just glad that my little girl is better! :)

Hi Deborah, thanks so much for your reply :) I tried giving Tatum canned pumpkin when she was teething and having SUCH an awful time with it as she would not eat her regular hard food (it hurt her to crunch down on them) and she really didn't eat it all that well :( I don't know why, because Tatum usually eats everything really well...but I don't think she really cares for the canned pumpkin for some strange reason. She took a few licks of it, but that was pretty much it. I guess when she had an upset tummy last night, I could of just put some canned pumpkin in a syringe and sort of made her eat it though. I think she would of been more willing to accept the canned pumpkin than that nasty Pepto LOL :p

My vet actually told me to give Pepto to Stedman when he was sick - this was a LONG time ago...and Stedman did ok with it. Tatum did also last night, it's just that my babies HATE the taste of it (understandable) lol. I try to avoid giving medicine whenever I can....but I just felt so sorry for Tatum last night as I was sick not long ago with the throw ups (yuck) and I know how incredibly AWFUL it is to feel sick at your stomach :(

Thankfully though, she is much better today and is doing great :)

Thanks!! :D She is back to her normal self, that's for a sure :p She was whining, crying and begging for food while hubby and I were having lunch...the little turd LOL

I don't know how anyone could drink Pepto straight from the bottle either, yuck! It makes me sick just thinking about it

Awww, thanks so much Greta :) You are such a sweetheart :)

Tatum and I send you big hugs

Tiger's Mom 01-14-2008 10:54 AM

oh I hope it is nothing to be alarmed about. I hear noises in Annika and Tiger's tummy often in the mornings (when I am still in bed) but I think that is just their tummy saying they are HUNGRY  :p

Sending hugs to TT :aimeeyork and hope she feels better soon.

LilDiddyBear 01-14-2008 06:15 PM

Glad to hear she is feeling better! I didn't know you could give Pepto to dogs. I will have to remember that next time Diddy has an upset tummy.

Diddy loves crushed ice too. Every time we get ice he is right at our feet waiting for a piece to miss the glass.

Thank you so much girl, you are always soo sweet! I think she is feeling a little better - although, she has pretty much just been sleeping for the most part. She did jump up to eat some crushed ice though when she heard me filling my glass up at the fridge, so that's a good sign :D Tate LOVES ice!

Hugs to you and your cutie pie angels!!

Oh no, it is nothing :) Nothing serious anyway :) She just had an upset tummy, the poor girl. She was doing a little better that night though, and then was completely fine the day next...so nothing major thank goodness

Hehehe....Stedman's tummy rumbles sometimes too, and it IS because he is hungry...the little mess, if he would just EAT more!

My babies are sending hugs back to pals Tiger and Annika

Yes, you sure can! :) Since your baby has never ever had it though, you MAY want to ask your vet just to be on the safe side - IF you should ever have to give it to your baby :) SOME dogs can have hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug, of course you'll never know until you try giving it to them, but I would go ahead and ask your vet just to be on the safe side. Also, if you know that he is allergic to aspirin or other salicylates, I wouldn't use it. Just some things I thought I'd mention :) Any dog I have ever owned has been able to take it though without any problems at all...and I think MOST dogs can, but it's always better to be safe than sorry! ;) Oh and by the way...if you ever DO have to give it to him - just be prepared....he is going to HATE the taste of it, LOL!! :D

And Diddy sounds EXACTLY like my Tatum when it comes to ice....she is just soo totally NUTS for it :p

I just saw this thread and so glad to see that Tatum is feeling fine again! I remember the first time I gave pepto bismol to Maddie. OMGosh...I had pink dots all over me, the bathroom walls and the mirror and floor. LOL I learned to squirt it in and close her mouth before she could shake it all over.

Libby is sick...she was throwing up, had yucky diarrhea and was running a fever. She is on a medication that my vet said has pepto bismol...or something like it in it. It has really helped her so far and she's nearly back to normal.

Thank you Connie! She is doing better although, darn it....about 10 minutes ago she had a BM and it was somewhat loose again :( I don't know what the heck is going on with her. I don't hear her tummy gurgling anymore and she certainly isn't acting sick, or like anythings bothering her...so I just don't get it  Luckily, she isn't having any diarreah, but it's still weird that her poop isn't firm like it normally always is. Hmmm....I don't know - I am just going to watch her and see how everything goes.

Oh gosh girl...the pepto bismol! I tell you...I had pink dots all over me too LOL. I did use a syringe and I swear I tried to stick it in her mouth as best I could, but as soon as she even SMELLED that stuff, she started shaking her head like crazy. She would just freak out sooo bad lol, poor girl! I don't even know which was worse with it, her or Stedman

I am soo sorry to hear that little Libby is sick :( That poor little thing! Hmmm....what does she have?? I don't guess there is a doggy bug going around LOL :p Tatum hasn't thrown up any, and no ugly D, but I know her tummy WAS upset the other night, and like I said, BM's aren't as firm as they normally always are. Stedman though thankful is totally fine.

What medicine did your vet put Libby on? Maybe in the meantime I will try giving Tate some more pepto (I didn't even give her a full dosage the other night, only half of what she was supposed to get)...but I will wait until tomorrow before I do any of that to see how she is. Oh geez, I will be pink all over again... this should be fun

Keep me updated on little Libby and give her a big hug for me! I'll letcha know if anything changes with Tator...I certainly hope not!

Pepcid?

Our 7 pound 5 year dog gets 1/4 a Pepcid when his tummy is upset. He had bleeding ulcers as a pup. As always, ASK your vet first.

I agree, it's ALWAYS best to ask your vet first  And wow...bleeding ulcers, my gosh, that poor baby :(

Hi Brooke! The medicine that Libby is on is Amforol and it is liquid. I give it to her in a syringe and she loves it! The vet said it was good tasting stuff. LOL It is doing it's thing because Libby is much improved. Her fever is down and she isn't sleeping as much...her poop is firm again! Yeah!

Before she got really bad, she and Maddie were taking turns with diarrhea. I'd wake to poop everywhere. Needless to say, I'm sick of poop! LOL They got over that on there own, and then Libby started in with mushy poop...and when she had to go, it just came out...no getting outside in time! Then it turned to diarrhea with a little blood in it and lots of mucous. She threw up too, but not as much that as the diarrhea. My vet thinks she got a bacterial infection from probably eating something outside when the snow melted and all the rotten stuff that was under the snow. I think she probably ate rabbit poop...the little stinker!

If little Tate's tummy is growling again, she's probably not over whatever she had. I guess you better stick with the pink stuff and if she seems worse, get her into the vet. It seems, at least with my two, when they get a tummy upset, they have a hard time getting rid of it on their own.
Sending get well kisses to little Tate. Hope she is feeling better and over the tummy squeaks soon!
